If you look at the footage from Crystal Palace etc you realise just how fast they drove those cars and they would bend in an accident , considering a lot of circuits still had trees by the trackside these guys had real courage and car control. It was also interesting how they set theirs up to 3 wheel but the Alan Mann cars didn't do it so much , in fact Jimmy was reported as being quite annoyed when his car wasn't as quick on some circuits , shades of one Ayrton Senna there. Bygone days , unrepeatable stuff !

Jim Clark nearly ran me down when I tried to take a photo of his Lotus Cortina on the RAC Rally in Scotland.
He'd just turned it into a banana-shaped Cortina after an encounter with a tree.
Them wuz the days...when F1 drivers weren't so bloody precious and enjoyed themselves on events like this.
