Sorry for the brief title. Basically I do alot of motorway miles. Im looking for a diesel car that has god mileage, looking around the £2000 £2500 mark, that can hold my drums. Bare in mind my Mitsubishi colt (1999 and 165000 miles and broken down once, bless it) can fit my kit. A polo can not. I looked at golfs, they seem to be the best with the 55 mpg.

Open to any other suggestions. My problem with the Colt was pulling out on motorways. It was only a 1.4 mind.

Throw your ideas my way. Thanks guys smile

I'd go for a focus. For the top/slightly over your budget there are even mk II versions. Golf will most likely be overpriced and as I am assuming you are looking at a mk IV, one of the worst versions. The 1.9tdi is a good engine though...

In motoring news??? OK, a mk1 Leon should do you fine, I used to get an entire mobile disco in the back of my Cupra R easily.

Mk 1 Skoda Fabia might do the trick. Not sure if an early vRS is within cost constraints, (probably not), but the Fabia Estate should be and has lots of space.
