so the jam jar is at my parents house declared sorn.

im going to present her for an mot next weekend hopefully.

I have a letter from the dvla confirming it is sorned.

I intend to buy the insurance online and book the mot online too. I understand that I dont need car tax (or whatever its called) to drive to or from the prebooked MOT. However, when i get to the MOt place, will the tester want to see the last MOT from 2009 or just the sorn letter?

Is this the correct way of doing things:

1) insure her
2) pre book mot
3) present for mot
4) if she passes great buy car tax
5) if she fails, cancel insurance within 7 days and assess options

I also assume presenting her for mot will not alter the fact she is on a sorn? or do I need to confirm with the dvla that she is no longer off the road?

ta as always

Tester won't want to see anything - everything will be on the computer.

Your sequence of events is correct and the "sensible" & legal way to do things, IMNSHO.

MOT has nothing do with SORN - that's a taxation (& now insurance) matter (Just wait for Saaby93 to pop up on this thread too).

This

No docs required for MOT, just car and £35

You are allowed to drive to/from pre-booked MOT OR a place of repair where repairs have been pre-booked AS LONG AS THE CAR HAS INSURANCE!

Driving an untaxed vehicle to an MOT test
You can drive your vehicle to and from a pre-arranged test at an MOT test station as long as you have adequate insurance cover in place for the use of that vehicle.
This is also for vehicles being driven to and from a pre-arranged test at a Vehicle Inspection Check (VIC) test station, an approved weight testing station and reduced pollution test.
