RE: Time For Tea? The Germano-Japanese Porsche
Discussion
To me, it stole the show on Sunday.
Aventador? I've seen that one before, and another white one, and another... The RUF 964 was a very close second.
I was just a bit gutted that I only got to take a few photos of it. And even more gutted when I saw and heard it drive away, automatically changing gears..
It is very cartoonish, but there are a whole host of other Rauh Welt cars that are not as extreme with their fender treatment.
Can't wait to see it again, and take a hundred photos! Maybe they'll bring it along to the next Porsche meet at the Ace cafe.

There are also rumours abounding that a certain Mr. Ken block has ordered an RWB Porsche.
For those slating it saying Nakai-san is all about form - His own car, the matt-black Stella Artois labelled 930 is used to race in. As are several other creations that he has made. IIRC, someone turns up at his workshop - which looks like a backyard shed:
And asks for him to transform their car. He does not accept people telling him what they want, he does what he sees would suit the car. AFAIK, there have been NO complaints from the owners about the finished product.
RE: The rev-counter in the engine bay pic, again from an article I read a while back, its there to aid tuning the engine when its just one person doing the work.
He doesn't just do Porsche's though:
Hachi Roku (AE-86 Corolla):
S15 Silvia:
I believe those are the only 2 non-Porsche's which makes them a bit more special. Personally, I rather like the S15 (see: WANT!!!!!)

If you are impressed by this Cartoon body kit stuff you are easily impressed!
Proper modding (mechaincally) is maybe a tad lost on you.
Pointless unless they go like they look. Better still to look more standard and go like these things want to go......
These are not slow cars to start with though, it's not like he is sticking wide arches and wings on Micras! Even if he only mildly tweaks the engine, adds an exhaust for the noise etc, then good for him, there is obviously a market for it and his workmanship looks good. While these cars may not go like the GT2 cars they mimic, it seems that is not important for their owners, and as I mentioned, even with their age, they might not be epically fast but they aren't going to be laughably slow either.Proper modding (mechaincally) is maybe a tad lost on you.

Here is a page I created collating some of the RWB project and customer cars are a meet.

I was lucky enough to visit RWB in January. I met Nakai-san and his team and sat in their 'office' drinking coffee with his customers. Despite the language barrier you can tell how passionate everyone is about their car and how much they enjoy actually driving/racing them.

If it means I don't turn a patronising twonk like you - I'll keep liking them then Proper modding (mechaincally) is maybe a tad lost on you.

Further to my post last night, I have uploaded the pictures I took during my visit to the RWB shop.

Maybe this will illustrate the type of place it is. It's a small garage with a couple of passionate staff. It's not commercial, it's about the cars and driving them.
I do fear though that someone has seen this as a 'Brand' opportunity and the foreign expansion will dilute what Nakai-san and his team have.
Once you start seeing Ken Block and others driving about on MTV with these types of cars then I think the whole vision will be lost.
Maybe take a look on the Idlers Club website in Japan to see how these types of cars are driven hard on the track - http://www.idlersclub.org/
One thing I did note from my visit in Japan this time was that there is no pretence in owning a particular car. If you can afford a Porsche/Ferrari/Lamborghini/Exotic Import. Then you do , and you drive it how you like and modify it how you like and that's the way it is. No one judges you for being an individual - possibly as the rest of society is so conformist and regimental they find hobbies and interests as an escape.
