Magic man, superb racing family as well. Two recollections that may well be true.
Joey used to take hire car round the TT course, very quickly and would show passengers how well he knew the course by switching lights off, this was on a nightime practise run.
Also, he escaped serious issue when trawler bring his bikes to TT week sank and they were quite luck to get away with that one as well.
Very generous with massive charity works as well, a true irish gentlemen of class and style.
Joey the man.........

Quite true, 1985, and one week before the TT, the fishing boat ferrying Joey, his brother Robert, Brian Reid, and their bikes, sank in Strangford Lough. Joey won three TT races that year, Brian got two lap records.

Joey Dunlop, the greatest road racer of all time, where there's absolutely no room for error. No one will ever come close to his record 26 TT wins (which included 3 hat-tricks) - simply a legend bow

Presume that's a V4 Honda - oddly the voice prevents it from being too alarming. You're in the hands of an expert if that makes sense. The bike sounds calm too.
I like how he "navigates" via bits he does like and bits he doesn't like. Great.

Quite. Couldn't agree more.

His swansong ride at the 2000 TT on the Honda SP-1 was majestic. One of his comments, post race?

Oh. I wasn't that fast

Yes you were, Joey. You always were.

An absolutely wonderful piece of footage, the man was a real legend and is sorely missed.

Also, how big is that camera? It didn't seem to make any difference to his riding though!

That was awesome! I lived in the IOM many years ago and used to marshall
for the TT and MGP. The best I ever saw was Mike Hailwood but great respect to Joey (who I never saw) he was one of the very greats and sadly missed.

Good comment and quite right. The thing that really stands out is the fact it's real street racing, bumps, adverse camber with loads of sun/shade/sun - so hard to concentrate at 180. Just makes it look so easy. Great man.

The storey I heard was that his brother Robert was frying some breakfast and asked for some salt. As the boat sank Joey allegedly asked him "Have you got enough salt now?"

RIP both Joey and Robert, both sorely missed.

That really is an incredible video - once he gets onto the mountain roads it's like watching speeded-up film - only it isn't. He's leaving those other bikes for dead!

Also, great to see the 'UK Nurburgring' in all its glory.
