If I was the trucker and someone asked me nicely to slow down at a certain point, I would do.

You're miles from the road! Nice flowers though. biggrin

Can't you blockade the road with your caravan, perhaps with a painted map of your proposed route on the side?
Only just seen your post - nice one! You must be near then. I hope you noticed the nice big PH emblem on the back of the 'van. I did like the idea of the map on the side....... biggrinbiggrinbiggrin
PS the wife will appreciate the nice comment re the flowers thumbup I shamefully admit to knowing nothing about gardening - nuts & bolts me.

Good point - feel like hiring a JCB and doing what a bloke did in Oxford a few years ago (he took out the hump from outside his house!!)
Ian Beesley IIRC, met the chap, he got us out of the Sh*t when a forklift let us down at a college ball in Oxford, and dragged himself halfway across Oxford on a Sunday afternoon from the pub to help.

So who feels a right plonker now? Me... paperbag I have been home since Tues, most of the days all day (serviced the car Tues, more work on it yesterday, washed it today etc) and no sign of the lorry. I reckon he was shifting a load of excavated earth and now I feel so stupid, storm in a teacup blah blah.
Still, it gave a platform for some mixed views, eh? Some of them worth thinking about, and maybe I will try not to be such a grumpy VM in future.
Peace!

I don't think you were being grumpy. As I mentioned earlier, if there is a more direct route, it's possible no HGV should be near your house anyway. The cost doesn't come in to it at all.If an agreement has been made to avoid a certain route, all delivery vehicles should be using it.Having to go several miles out of our way at work is very common indeed. The noise may have stopped for now, but we have sites which can run for years, so let's hope that's the end of it for you! smile

Ultimately, I didn't check the mileage difference after all, as I was busy doing the service then at the end of Tuesday I had realisde that the trips had stopped. But it can't be more than a mile or so difference, and I just though that if a truck had to go through a residential area, it would be nicer to limit the number of houses en route from about 150+ to 20+!! Given that the building site is quite busy, and there must be a lot of deliveries, it would seem that these are being made via the Lodge Hill approach, as on my days off (the building has been going on for some time now) I have seen no other lorries which would contain bricks/bulk supplies/concrete/scaffolding etc. Never mind, thanks for the comments, much appreciated! bow
