The very friendly Parkers Forum, which had some good general - and often specific - motoring chat, has been abandoned by the owners, Bauer, following a rehash of the Parkers website.

There was no notice of the removal of the Forum - which had members for many years who contributed to the 'footfall' on Parkers...there is already a comment that the new website is down on visits...

Parkers was never a competitor to PH - many of us posted on both Forums over the years - it was more like the shallow end of the pool before the youngsters jumped into the deep end of Pistonheads...famous for advice on Renault problems and some help to youngsters interested in driver education.

I am posting on PH in the hope of making contact with the Parkers refugees who lost contact with a lot of mates when Bauer pulled the plug on the Forum with no advanced warning - would appreciate it if Moderators will leave the posts for a while - will understand if Moderators decide to delete posts

Never heard of it until now.

Feel like I've missed out. Damn it.

*wave* (I was TomH on there)

While I read more than I posted, I really enjoyed the place, good banter!... very annoyed the plug was pulled without warning to all those regular users and contributors, least of all to set up some sort of alternative!

Waving back!

Hi Tom

Was the Skoda decided on the recommendation (daily) of Trevor P?

Trying to get the gang together - any suggestions welcome from PH members.

Apologies to PH - I have had 'multiple posts deleted'...just trying to push all the buttons

Reminds of the Autocar forum, its full of the same old people stuck in boring circular arguments posting every day, but nobody new has been able to join for months as the registration page is permanently down!

I used to use it a few years ago but found it got a little boring.

Had a good few arguments with TrevorP too which were sometimes amusing!

Ahhhhh Parkers Guide people.

Stay off ny forecourt with your bloody blue book. If Parkers can sell you one for the price in there, buy it from them etc etc hehe

Welcome to PH. We'll look after you.

The 4car forum was very much the same until they put it out of it's misery.

The 4car forum became a nightmare before it closed. A group of us from there set up our own site but that in turn became a pain after about three years so we are now on our second iteration of post 4car forum. If anyone wants to come over and have a look PM me and i will send you the address

Used to go on parkers more then here. Miss the forum. Quite a tight nit group there, I liked it. It's a very big shame they got rid of it.
One thing that really bugs me about the new design is on a car review page. after the summary there was always the readers review at the bottom. But they got rid of this.

Ben,

My special was paid for by my Group - main benefit was two sessions with a retired Class 1 and a long day with a serving Class 1 to prepare for the Test...well worth doing, though I did not have a great drive on the day.

Re Westland - I lived in Milan, supplied transmission bearings to Agusta and Westland...kept contact as 'consultant' for bearing company when I quit working.
Bad news about the redundancies this weekend!.

I thought it was a thriving forum with everything you ever wanted to know about Renault. Have they taken away all the archives too?
