I can't wait to see the M650dX. 400bhp tri-turbo diesel with 4wd.

Unbeatable all-rounder!

I know the styling is a bit hit and miss (Personally, I quite like it, but even I wouldn't call it "interesting") but you can't argue with that engine. Power, Torque and economy? It's a masterpiece.

Over 50mpg on a largely meaningless test, yes. I'd be surprised if many owners average more than about 40 over their period of ownership. You don't get much more test-friendly than a multi-stage turbocharged diesel connected to an automatic gearbox with loads of gears.

True. Still incredible for a 310bhp, sub-6sec, big GT though.

Yes, even if people average about 40, that's still quite impressive for the weight and performance.

I agree. Mate of mine gets 35mph average out of his 2008 330D, so 40mpg average sounds achievable with 335D if teh tech has improved enough.

BMW MPG figures have been known to be a bit enthusatic...

Mercedes did an SL400 CDi Concept back in 2005, but never bought it to market.

But there's a new SL due next year, and I'd bet that a diesel will be part of the line up...

This makes me laugh, not one person that i know would buy a £60k coupe with mpg as the most important thing. Which those costs are negated by the huge depreciation.

For similar money i'd take an RS5, not give a crap about mpg, & enjoy everything about the car. As for driving in Europe, i do that frequently, & it's never once bothered me to refuel.

All i see here is a load of cliches about "wafting" places, & people that probably travel across Europe maybe once or twice in a lifetime. As for best GT car? That's a pathetic statement to make if you've not tried it yourself, & all of its competition.

But don't the diesels hold their value massively better, too?

Diesel makes a huge difference though if you're a company car person - and I'd imagine many Company Directors will quite fancy a 6-series.

I really do think they nailed the styling with these, I've thought they were lovely since I first saw that stupid advert with the water fountains.
The lights are very reminiscent of the Skyline GT, but it's not a bad thing.

Only thing I don't like is the price, because I can't afford one hehe

Yet it'll still lose approx 50% of it's value in the first 3 years.

Which is a damned slight better than the petrol.

How exactly? Anyone with their own business can call themselves a company director. Belive me, find the right tax loopholes.

doesn't the e class coupe count as a diesel grand tourer? Given the 6 series is similar to a 5 series underneath?

Still you fail to see the point. People penny pinching over mpg are not seeing the big picture. Once again, i don't know anyone with a £60k car that cares about mpg. Yet here there are people saying how great the mpg is on this fugly 6 series, & how ECONOMICAL it is. If you want economy, don't buy a £60k car as depreciation will be huge.

You're very wrong there.
