I see people claim Beemer 6`es are the best of the bunch, but doesnt these suffer from the throttle delays? what other engines are as smooth but without the delay?

Alfa V6...a thing of incredible beauty, both to behold, and to listen to (if beholding and listening are technically different)

My Dad's old e46 330 touring (2001) had a terrible delay. I nearly stalled it every time I pulled away in it. Other than that it was fantastic!

That's not really an issue with the engine though is it? It's more a DBW / ECU thing..

Which of BMW 6`es have the least delay then? I heard the N52 is significantly more responsive compared to the 3.0. Any truth in that?
Honestly, a 1 second delay would ruin the entire driving experience for me.

The Z4 3.0 engine is probably the best petrol BMW I've tried, but there's still a delay: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MsoBlLIrNk

The 2000/2001 330s were indeed laughable; I don't know how they ever made it past quality control and into the hands of customers. In my year 2000 330ci I could tap my foot to music on the throttle in 1st gear and it would just dawdle along as if nothing was happening biggrin

I had an ODB1 in a MK3 Golf on a K plate, what a lovely engine that was.

Too bad the cars connected to the engine is sub-par. Needs to be RWD to be of any interest. Which sadly excludes most of the Alfas too..

So I guess its a question of the most responsive BMW 6? Anyone ?

After hearing a mates Corrado VR6 I'm tempted to agree, totally standard and sounded fantastic.

The 3.0 V6 24V I had in my Alfa 164 also sounded gorgeous, so willing to climb up in revs and sings all the way up too cloud9

what about the S50 and S52 engines, in the E36 M3s? Do they also have throttle delay?

Surely the S20 from the KPGC10 would be up there.
