Do many of the Chapparals (sp?) exist?
Remember being intrigued by the write-up in Performance Car about them
I can't say I've ever heard of the Chapparal. The only popular GTV6 conversion I heard anything about in SA was the Callaway twin turbo V6, though a local company called Alpine offered a turbo conversion of the 2 litre 4 cyl for a while too.Remember being intrigued by the write-up in Performance Car about them
Here's some info off the net

The GTV6 Chaparral was a modified version of the GTV6. These GTV6 cars were essentially remanufactured by Chaparral Motorsports of Westbury, Wiltshire in England in the late 80's and early 90's.
British Compomotive alloys & an extensive body kit make the car look quite different. There is also slightly different treatment of the bonnet line.
Complete engine rebuild, porting & polishing of the head was said to be good for 210 Hp. The car was also completely stripped down to bare metal to identify any rusty bits - which were replaced as needed.
The interior is also quite beautiful, being completely re-done in British Connolly hide with Wilton carpets.
In 1990, the rebuild cost 14,750 British pounds.

I remember seeing a write-up in Performance Car mag some years back ( pre-EVO )
