If you take F1 as an example, my vision was that it always made sense for us to be not just a race team but a car manufacturer as well. The original idea was to do that with Group Lotus, but that obviously went spectacularly wrong, so we found a very elegant solution in Caterham and now we’re sorting out the issues with Group Lotus so we can all move on in a positive way.

who have scored a handful more than

As I said, it's embarrassing to watch. Especially as they're using Renault engines.

If your talking about Caterham, and TF i still dont think it would work, Caterham, Morgan etc have tiny facilities and effectively run there business around one main model

Lotus are to big for that, they were loosing money when they had just the Elise even though they were selling a lot more of them than Caterham or Morgan combined

Aside from ultra small scale concerns like Morgan and Caterham, etc (And even a here a lot of them go bust) how many companies of Lotus's size have been succesfully run independantly??

Aston, Ferrari, Lambo all nearly came a cropper, till a big auto maker stepped in, rolls, Bentley the same, even Lotus nearly went tit's up after GM walked out and private ownershop stepped in, if proton had not bought them the company would not exist today

Look at Aston now ford have gone, i dont see a promised new dawn, just endless reworks of the tech ford financed and helped Aston develop, years ago, i doubt the money is there for that strategy to ever really change

Just my 2p's worth, but if proton walk out and another auto make does not step in, i doubt Lotus will survive

Proton are not ideal partners as there parts bin is totaly unsuited for lotus use, shame Toyota or VW are not the owners, but even so there are still an auto maker and a better partner than some private equity firm or up for it individual, history has seen more than it's fair share of the latter come and go

Really? Toyota haven't been able to build an interesting car for the better part of a decade, and VW already have Bentley, Bugatti, Audi, Lamborghini, and Porsche; why would they need another luxury brand? If anything, they already have too much inter-brand competition.

I do think it would be nice if Lotus had the support of a large manufacturer, but I'd prefer they went to a more "sporting" manufacturer, such as Mazda. Imagine the 2017 Elise with their laser-ignited wankel!

Ford might make sense, Ecoboost V6 would be a perfect replacement for the Camry V6 in the Evora, and the 300bhp+ Ecoboost 4 from the next Focus RS would be nice in the Exige. In addition, America was always the biggest market for British sports cars, so Lotus being owned by an American company would make sense.

Of course since Ford just liquidated their inventory of premium brands, they're obviously not in the market.

I think some of Lotus null points are down to Kovalainen who never seems to get past Q1 or the first bend in the race - harsh I know but he must be paying for his drive then?

Liking the JB Evora much more than the JPS version - better pop down to B&C on Saturday and have a look as there are only 3...

In conclusion, thank God Evans isnt a journo - his grammar is rubbish - not unlike his Radio 2 show - so nice when he is away collecting cars...all IMHO of course

Not been watching much F1 this season then ? Kovalainen has finished more races than Trulli has for Lotus - and is usually ahead of Trulli.

I always love these limited edition models Lotus do. There was a JC Lotus Elise at Silverstone and it looked great amongst all the 'normal' cars.

And yes I would love this Evora. For now I will stick with my Europa....at least its black.
