Nobody offers a straight swap unless it's heavily in their favour. Avoid like barebacking an African hooker. Cash in full on collection. Do not remove your car from sale until the new owner has put cash in your hand and it is off your premises. Removing it from sale removes any need for them to get their arse in gear to avoid losing it to someone else who is prepared to put some effort in.

Gumtree is full of nutters. I was selling something and a guy responded, then asked me to drive 20-odd miles to deliver it to him, I replies "thanks for the offer but no thanks, I don't offer a delivery service". Then he starts sending me angry messages saying "you better fOh and beware of Gumtree, owned by evilbay, and has even more shysters than evilbay.
king bring it to me right now, I'll buy from someone else, I swear!"
Ive one ending on ebay in next 20 minutes. It has an issue, but it's nowhere near what I hoped for. It has met the WBAC valuation though! i put it on 99p no reserve as I need it gone, you win some, you loose some, but it's fairly painless on eBay is you describe it well and be honest.

Scrap men around here don't even want to know, if it can't be driven to them.

A car that has only been owned a week could be a lemon or have issues like speeding tickets, parking tickets etc linked to it, unless the person selling/ proposing the swap has a damn good reason why they want to swap a good car for a somewhat knackered Astra, and I can't think of many then they must think they will come out on top somehow.
