Has anyone used Redex recently? Any good??
Discussion
Soooooo im about to change oil in a 1958 Frogeye and im thinking chance for an idiot decoke ............... stick loads of parrafin in the rocker cover and down the spark plugs, leave two days, then push it in 3rd gear, then leave a bit then change the oil/drain for a while.
Petrol or parrafin?
Will this help?
Might pop off the rocker cover at the end and faff about with old toothbrush and bottle cleaner as just spotted replacement cork gaskets are £1.30. Not exactly Merc prices!
Thoughts?

RedEx is old stuff.
I used Comma petrol D-Tox. It sorted out the idle problem on my V10 M6.
Sorry for thread resurrection, but I just got some of this and the car was driven for the first time having put it in the fuel tank and I got an error message on the dash saying to not accelerate hard as catalyst damage may occur I used Comma petrol D-Tox. It sorted out the idle problem on my V10 M6.
Surely a bit of a coincidence that the light comes on the 1st drive after using this stuff.
I put it in with 3/4 of a full tank showing on the dash (88 litre tank)...I'm hoping that if it just gets driven gently and then refuelled once almost empty it'll be OK.
Once the car was turned off I left it about an hour, the car was then driven again and the warning light did not come on until full throttle was used, and the light came back on.
Car is a 2003 BMW 745i with 123k on the clock.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Yes - why?
I meant did you have any thoughts as to the light on the dash?I used it because, some times, these things can help, even if there isn't a fault apparent. I remember watching an old fifth gear where they used some redex on an old VW scirocco (I think) which had 190bhp as standard but was producing 177bhp after around 19 years......they used redex and it went up to 183bhp before they did anything else.

I do think that potions and lotions are rarely a cure for an issue and you didn't have an issue to start with but you've got one now - I hope it goes away once you've cleared the snake oil out of your tank.
Nowt wrong with decent quality fuels - probably better than any potions

1996 190bhp Scirocco? Nah. Might've been a Corrado turbo or VR6?I used it because, some times, these things can help, even if there isn't a fault apparent. The car was driven tonight and the engine management light is still on, but when using full throttle the warning doesn't come up on the dash, it runs absolutely fine and in the "faults" section of the idrive it lists no faults.
I think it's adapted to the dtox stuff and just needs the light resetting

An old thread. For its worth, no pun intended. A friend ran an MOT testing garage. When there was a borderline fail he would tell the customer to put in Wurth, he sold the stuff, and drive it around for a day and a run for 5 miles up the m'way at a high hot engine speed. I asked if it does work? He said "yes, every time". He said it is best to use it on a full tank just before taking the car into an MOT to be sure, to be sure. But make sure the tank is below 1/4 full taking it to the MOT test so the additive can do its work.
The 5th Gear video was convincing.

My mechanic old man and his mechanic mates tell me they used to use a 'Forte' product to do the same job, it was supposed to go in the fuel tank but all of them swore by disconnecting the fuel rail and squirting a concentrated dose straight in there.
ETA: the purpose was same as above, cleaning up marginal emissions fails, first attempt fix on drippy droppy injectors

I'd put money on the same result if he'd not put stuff in the tank and just carried out the bit in boldThe 5th Gear video was convincing.
