RE: Six Of The Best? Forgotten Hot Hatches
Discussion
Love the BX, my dad used to have the BX Preview (IIRC) when I was a kid which was a basic BX but had a bodykit not too dissimilar to that of the GTi, it didn't have the rear wheel covers though.
I used to hate it, as all my friend's parents had newer cars but looking back it was a great car with the fancy suspension, single spoke steering wheel, chevron patterned seats It was an 89 F reg, same age as me. Doubt it'll still be going.
If I ever need a fun, cheap car it'd certainly be on my list.

What about this GTi?
Come on now, we all remember the advert....

I always thought of them as two entirely different cars, in that one is relatively cheap to run for a hot hatch (so long as the chain doesn't snap) whereas the GTi-R is a pain and a financial drain with a duff clutch/gearbox.I was looking at Pulsars when you posed that. Then it occurred to me; if you're going to get one of those you might as well go for a Skyline Gt-t as it's got better high stress bits.
I remember my wife was loaned a BX GTi (not the 16v) once when her Xantia was serviced by the local Citroen specialist (not a dealer).
The car was already pretty aged, but God it was fun! Felt like it was made from papier mache though!
Not sure the Octavia vRS counts as 'forgotten' though...

Me neither, I'd be bound to remember I'd driven to work at some point on the 9 mile walk home M.
I know the Leon was what started the idea of the story but that's hardly forgotten either.
