Echo this - I had two Uno Turbos and they were manically, stupidly quick.Remember trying 205GTI at same time...so slow (but a bit better by about 300% around the bends) and Renault 5 Turbo- comical degree of turbo lag and horrid cabin.Uno had awful ride, difficulty in getting power to tarmac on 175 tyres , sharpest clutch in history of motoring (and shortest life clutch cable..), but was immense - if flawed- fun. Drove mine to San Marino GP and the trip via the Route Napoleon, Nice and Florence was epic.

ps - no idea of 0-60 time - in real world terms it was probably rubbish as no traction and first/second change very slow on my cars. But full power at 40 in 3rd left virtually anything I normally encountered a distant speck in mirror

Isnt that 0-60 time for the skoda wrong, I dont no of any ko3 varient 1.8t that has a factory sub 7 second 0-60 time, only the ko4 varient 1.8t (210/225/240) have sub 7 second times. Parkers shows it as 7.6
Just for your info (although 3 yrs late) this particular VRS is running 225bhp and 221 lbs per sqr ft of torque.

its all variable isnt it, as the report suggests some of the k03's ran more than their standard 180 brake - so if it was pushing 200 - possible?!
it was actually running 225 bhp smile

Wasn't there a follow up article sometime later where they couldn't reproduce the same acceleration figures and surmised the original test Skoda must have been running the Audi TT's 225hp setting/state of tune?
They did and this one is running 225

If getting down the road first from the traffic lights is your bag then ignore the Uno's time to 60 or 62. weighing very little and with such close ratios the mk2 1.4 would slingshot to around 55 in 2nd gear before most of those other cars knew which way it had gone. 60 is just a figure and in terms of acceleration off the line can only tell part of the story. You could blitz plenty in the old Uno (tbh even the Mk1 1301cc which was nigh on just as rapid) even today and then when you change up to 3rd.....breathe and relax smile

I wont even go there as to what my humble little Fiat has waved bye bye to. Ive even surprised myself against some machinery. Great little engines in these.

Hi Richard, I sold the MG years ago and it's no longer showing as on the road.
I miss it!

You couldn't keep it after it failed to keep up with a BX that day tongue out

I actually went on to own a blue ZS180. I did like it in many ways. I was a flawed gem smile

What? No Nissan Sunny ZX hatch? 138bhp from a 1.8 CA18, LSD and about 900kg in 1989. Hugely underrated hot hatch.

If that's yours then it is a massive disservice to unloved car owners everywhere that you didn't stick your name down and bring that along!

Haha no, it isn't mine. If I had one I might've done just that! Thought I'd just drop it in here. A friend used to have one a number of years ago, quick, fun little car. Rare as hell now smile

Not surprised the Sunny ZX was a late entry here.My cousin has had loads of them- and very good they are too.A Dobottle green 5dr hits the Holy Grail sweet spot .However, the N14 Sunny GTI 143bhp is in a totally different league.
