Vauxhall Nova Swing B246 JMX in white. Drove like an absolute tool and then went into the back of a 4x4 after 6 weeks. It died soon after. I am genuinely gutted I don't have a proper photo of it though

N801 ALS a 1996 Vauxhall Astra 1.6i 'premium' My grandfathers old car. It had very few miles on the clock I drove it like I stole it (I was 17 after all) It needed nigh on nothing, I sold it to go on a gap year 6years ago and through the DVLA only just found out it's tax hadn't been renewed after the 1st of may this year. Can't believe it made it that far

Mk2 Golf C in white
The gearbox was like stirring yogurt, liable to find reverse as easily as first.
Had the 1.3 engine which must have made it the slowest, most under-powered Golf VW have made.

Still managed to write it off though; I blame the biscuit tyres it wore as standard. paperbaghehe

First one that was "mine" was a Polo 1.0E on a 51-plate, which my parents still have as a dog car/general snotter. Every time I drive it these days I can't believe how slow it is, but it still feels solid even 10 years down the line.

1.2, B reg Nova saloon in a very light green. The seats were green....and the dash....oh and the carpet too laugh

The bodywork was in great condition for its age and I should never have sold it for the POS that replaced it frown
Those Nova saloons had massive bootspace for the size of the car. Would've made an ideal kidnapping car!

A-Reg VW Polo 1.0. It was actually slower than walking, leaked an alarming amount of fuel if you filled the tank over 1/3rd full, cut out every time the engine was allowed to idle (had to whip out the choke at the lights!), absolutely no extras at all, apart from some excessively large speakers stuck to the parcel shelf fed by a sony discman plugged into the tape deck using a 'tape' on a wire - magic!

All in all, it was fking ste, but it was my fking ste and I loved it. PX'd it after 5 months for a gold Ford Orion 1.4L - oh the power.

S2a?Is an old Landy practical all year?I know they're obviously good in winter but do they have the usual classic reliability problems?

I'd like to say it was fantastic. I would however be lying.

Yes, mine was actually that colour; no, it doesn't look any better in real lifehehe

The Landy was very reliable and apart from a broken half shaft, it was perfect for going to/from college.

I bought from a District Nurse in Wales (she used it in the Winter) - 1964 reg (I think that is correct for a C plate?) and only had 55,000 miles on the clock.

I paid £800 for it, ran it for 18 months and sold it for £1,200.

My Landy was 2.25 petrol and had split tailgate.

Seven seats.

No syncro, floor dip switch, funny little wiper motors and was about as basic as you could get. I am no mechanic but it was a great car to mess with (all nuts and bolts) and I used to take the roof and tops of the doors off in the summer.

The Series 2A was much more reliable than my 1993 200 TDi Defender!

Great fun and a Series 2A (or maybe a 3) would be in my dream garage.
