26 when I got it a year ago. Learnt to drive in June 2010 with the aim of buying almost exactly that, and did it three months later. Wanted one ever since I first saw them in 1998, but wasn't sensible or affordable and I was making do with cycling everywhere until then (albeit on an equally expensive bike). Still isn't really necessary and if I had some snotter I might go back to having no car, but I like this a little bit too much!Edited by trashbat on Monday 17th October 20:22
I am going to get slaughtered for this but;
My first car Suzuki Vitara in blue with big alloys and automatic!!
It was great at the time 1995 but it was the only thing I could get reasonable insurance on and it wa bought from an older family friend and had 7k on the clock and was 4 years old when I got it.
Rod.

1976 MK2 Austin A40 Farina like this one!
Put wide wheels on the back, Peco exhaust and lowered suspension.
Soon got bored with the colour so painted it Purple and white.
Had a bit of a bump and ended up with a one-piece fibreglass front and painted it all black with gold pinstripes (JPS style)
Cooked the engine so put a complete Sprite engine in with twin SU's, stage 2 head and cam and a tubular exhaust.
Great fun to drive and was the car which got me into sports estates!

A 1 litre G-reg citroen AX, complete with manual choke. What a temperamental thing she was on a cold morning too and when it was written off after a 10mph shunt with a Golf I'm rather glad I never had a more serious prang! I just remember being horrified on my first drive having learnt in a relatively modern Corsa. Soon got used to it and to be fair was a fairly hassle-free little car.
mine was a mini, at 17, (these pics are not my actual cars)
had a few mini's, then had an mg metro and then a metro turbo. traded in the metro turbo for a 6month old xr2 mk 2 when i was 19 and at the time i loved it, but drove it like i stole it and other than cleaning it at every opportunity i didnt look after it properly re servicing etc. then had a mk1 xr2 which was totally mint,(i did look after that) and looking back the mk1 and mk2 xr2's are the only cars i'd have back in a heartbeat.

Taken back in about 1981-82...me with my first car! A 1974 BMW 2002tii. I must have been 18 or 19 years old. The beginning of a slippery slide into the madness of this: www.bmwclassics.co.uk
Went to see a Wolseley 1500 back in '83 with £20 in my pocket.
Left with the car, but no strides, the seller liked my Razzy stretch fit jeans, they became the main bartering point.
Still love remembering the light up grille marque plaque, the engine hand crank, the points adjustment. Most of all the girls, they were lovely.

Jumping out of my learner Escort (new, J reg) and into that, on my own, it felt so raw and fast... I ragged the st out of the poor thing.
Thanks mum, £300 well spent
