Leon - RF vs. Cupra R 225
Discussion
Um both have a turbo.
It is the FR not the RF
Cupra does have more STD kit and does look better
As for tuning plenty of options for either but buy a fast car in the first place.
You do know the Cupra R now does 265bhp STD and of course you could modify that even more if you wished.
Buy the 265bhp Cyprus R or an S3 or a Golf R all with the same engine but 4wd.
If you after a lot more than 309bhp man up and buy a properly fast car not a hot hatch. XKR etc

Tuning an FR to 265bhp is a bit of a step, an R 225 will get to 265 easily with a stange 2 REVO map and a cold air feed. I would just get an R225. They are both turbocharged and yes, you are looking at £1000+ if the turbo goes tits up, but don't let that put you off. Try to buy from an enthusiast rather than a boy racer, let the car warm up fully before boosting hard and let it cool off for the last few miles of any journey and the turbo should last ages.
My R was mapped to 265bhp, had a CAF, Milltek catback exhaust etc, bloody great car. Hardly a sleeper as it was bright yellow, but it was seriously quick for a FWD car. On a cold day, on full boost in 3rd gear the acceleration was pretty savage in a way that faster cars I've been in were not - it was a bit like holding onto the reigns of a scared horse!

You need to confirm which model you're thinking of buying, I was thinking new shape, but there was a Mk1 Leon FR which was basically the original rebadged, that had the same 1.8t engine as the Cupra R but in 180bhp form, still with a turbo though. Given your budget I'm still assuming Mk2?
