Yes 6 I think. Also that gumball chap used one in most of the early rallys, so there's plenty of photos.

I'm told there were 6 produced in total and only one ever actually registered for road use.

I'll post some more pics in the morning of the lambo, this guy builds some amazing cars, currently got the owner of barcalona fc maz in for compleat new body. Got pics of it

I think there were 9 built in total, and 5 or 6 were road registered. Not 100% though.

Hi there,

If you mean this one: -

Then sorry but this is not an XJ220S, its a standard XJ220 with an 'S' front bumper.

There is at least one road going XJ220S in the UK and thats the Yellow one: -

The others are mainly overseas (in the USA I think) and were affectionately known as the 'Opal Fruit' cars

Not sure if any of the above may have been wrapped, resprayed etc as I cannot seem to find a record of exactly how many XJ220S's were built.

Certainly interested to find out more about the car that the OP has discovered.

Regards

Tim

I wouldn't want to be paying for the belt replacements on that - it looks like a bloody jet engine.

I've driven Maximillion Cooper's XJ220 (the Gumball one) about a bit and, if memory serves- this was four or five years ago- it has a factory looking race spec electrical cut off and a few other bits and bobs that I don't remember from the other JX220 I sat in (about fifteen years ago- so memory obviously hazy). Was there something between the 'cooking' XJ220 and the S? How did it end up with an S front end?

I dont know what Im more impressed by...the find, or the trust the owner of the jag has in a bald bloke in Spain who wears jean cargo shorts and black socks to work on his car/engine.

All I can think of at the moment is the "Spanish Tuner" thread. But still, great find!

Ok, from what I have just been told.

The car is a USA car and has been sent over here for work to be done by the chap in the photo, as was the lambo. The owner of the car says all 6 road going versions were sent to the USA and from there only one, this one, was re registered for the road, making it the only official road going version today.

This guy also built the lambo and is currently building the maz in the photo, he tells me when everyOne else gets stuck they call him ! I works all over the world and is off to LA in two weeks to do some work. He has some mad stuff, he is not Spanish by the way, he is from Belgium !
