Is a 168bhp 2.5v6 from 1994 really considered asthmatic? The old e36 325 from the same era had a whole 2bhp more and no-one criticises that.
A 323i (2.5 with restricted inlet) is 170bhp, but the 'full fat' 325i is about 190bhp, I thought?

Highly under-rated in my opinion. Sad they never got the engines the chassis deserved. If I had the money I'd but this weeks shed in a heartbeat. Good find. thumbup

Well worth looking after as they are getting collectable now and with the Ford parts bin an ST24, ST220 or Jag' V6 conversion could give the car the poke the pop up lights and lines deserve. Lest we forget the American version of the Probe had the mighty 2.3 Pinto turbo so the YB should be a straight enough swap as well.
What are talking about?? Go and have a lie down you silly person. The Probe should be consigned to the annals of history (didyouseewhatIdidthere)

I read the "anal" prefix reply and thought, that was a bit childish.

Continued....

Entire topic is about Anal car names.

I played this excellent game on the drive to work this morning.

All spotted from an Anal Cappuccino.

Japan may well be the best place to play this game (which is probably quite boring in Germany). What will the drive home turn up? Can't wait.

Horrible looking car but fair play to the owner, it is probably one of the best ones left.

Love the look of these.

Sweeping front, pop up headlights, bright purple and a retro-futuristic rear end. Rare now too!

Ace! Good shed smile

Soooooooo, this thread has gone vastly off topic somewhat - but has anyone ACTUALLY read the original ad?

It states that is hasn't been serviced in 7 years / 10k miles, and it hasn't ACTUALLY had the MOT done yet, the owner is just confident it will pass...

..suddenly, it doesn't sound like such a bargain.

Looks in good nick from the photos though, which would make sense if it hasn't been used much. No chance of rust etc I'd imagine.

..Vaguely tempted..

You mean the E30 M20 325i engine? They had circa 170bhp

Around 192bhp for the E36 325i (the E36 323i was restricted to 170bhp, but different engine to an M20).

And, remember the old M20 engine came out around 8 years before this Mazda / Ford lump, so for it's time, 170bhp was pretty decent.

I’m not sure I would pay 600 quid for an unloved Ford/Mazda that has sat unused in the garage for the best part of a decade.

Has anyone mentioned…

My ex missus when we split up in 2003 (who hated my Corrado G60, PoloG40s and any modded car in general) started a new relationship with a workfriend of hers who had a 'modified' Ford Probe, it was a 1995 M plate I think and he had lowered it, tin can exhaust, big wheels and resprayed it some stty turquoise colour. I remember him picking her up (we shared a house still), and I couldn't stop laughing at him. I'll always remember her face when she got in it, the look of "get the f**k out of here now, NOW!" being mouthed under gritted teeth.

Nice shed, the Probe was a looker at the time, definitely preferred it to the MX-6, and in homage to pop-up headlights:
