Very few reviews online at first glance.

Have come fitted on my gold mk5 1.9tdi.

Ditch finders or decent mid range?

Made by Continental, same factory as their branded stuff.

Used to be the tyre of choice for Speedway bikes, not much help but you asked.

My old Impreza had a full set of them on it. They were flippin' lethal in the wet, all the grip of a wet haddock.

A pair on the front of my Clio when I bought it. They're about 35 quid a tyre or something from a local garage so I was dubious. Obviously I drove the car on these first, so didn't know any better. Then I hit a pothole on a B road and the tyre burst - it wasn't a big pothole either, didn't expect it to cause any problems, so I suspect it was a poor tyre.

Replaced them with Kumho Ecsta and they're significantly better in the wet and dry. Used them (the Barums) in the snow last year, and my 182 wasn't as capable as my 'rents Mini Cooper on similar sized Kumhos either.

I would not buy another pair of Barums, no matter what the cost.

I've driven an Insignia hire car on Barum tyres- only had it a couple of weeks though. I thought they were pretty good, looked like a quality product, nice chunky rim protectors too.

There's no reviews because everyone who had them on is not alive to tell the story lol

Just buy some proper tires

This.

I didn't have them on an Impreza though. They were on a 1.25 Fiesta. Only had them on for a few weeks when I tried stopping sharpish in the wet & the car just carried on. Swapped them with the worn set of Bridgestones from the rear straight after that.

Definitely avoid.

I bought a set about 8 years ago for my metro 1.1 and never had a problem with them. To be fair though there was hardly masses of torque trying to rip them from the rims.

Had a few sets of Bravuris, always impressed with the dry grip. Seemed good to me. They get good reviews from the German test mags.

Avoid the el cheapo ones, think they are called Brilliantis.

Got Bravarius 2s on my 205 GTI. Seem alright but that might be because I have too many other things to worry about currently. I think you get what you pay for really so depends what you want.

Got the Bravuris ones on the back of my Cupra as a temporary measure, they are fine.

My good friend - a tyre fitter - has put them on his own car and he also rates them.

If I was putting tyres on a cheap runabout it's probably the brand I'd go for. On a car driven hard I'd probably go for something a bit better.

Good to see plenty of posts from people who've never used them...

I have two in the garage, Bravuris 2 in 225/40/18, that have done about 2,000 miles. I use them in emergencies when I inevitably hit a pot hole in my winter tyres and can't source replacements (to ensure the axle tyre remains consistent).
When I first got them it was due to a puncture in one of my summers and the garage where I was stranded wanting ridiculous money for Eagle F1s.

Long and short of it is that they're fine as a summer tyre, with enough grip in the wet not to kill you. Not a patch on Eagle F1s, as to be expected. Btw, if you happen have them on the rear in snow, as I did (FWD), you'll also have a lot of fun when you come to any corner. biggrin

Got a ful lset on the BMW (328i estate). Seem to be lasting well and have decent enough traction. Not terrible, no fatal handling traits but not for "sporty" driving.

A bog standard tyre for driving on when you don't really care.

Argghh why do people say this as if it means anything?
Because its giving some assurance of quality control and provenance. ie. They are a tyre maker who are linked to Continental as opposed to some outfit with no links to established players in the tyre industry.

Doesn't mean the tyres are any good though. I think that's what was being driven at...

Hello mate, how's it going with the Beemer?

Regarding the tyres, have a look here:-

http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Barum/

I have heard good things about Barum tyres but never had any so far.

If you are ever looking for really good tyres at a good price I can highly recommend these:-
