If you are ever looking for really good tyres at a good price I can highly recommend these:-

Not in my case ran them for around 1500 miles in the Cerbera and found them awful now on Eagle F1 Asymmetric and it really is night and day.
OP is running them on a 1.9tdi Golf, not a lairy Tiv, I'm sure they'll be fine.My car was supplied with some budget rubber (brand new tyres) but given that 90% of my driving is commuting there is simply no reason to ditch them. I wouldn't replace them with the same tyres, but they aren't so poor that I'd bin them. (Lassa Impetus in my case, though to be fair they aren't much cheaper then Falkens or Kumhos).

Hello mate, how's it going with the Beemer?
Beemer gone mate. Now have VX220 Supercharged and the Golf. Will leave these on until I can get some winter tyres and make a decision in Spring. Very mixed reviews, but thanks for everyone's input. I guess it really does depend on what and how you drive.
I like them and fit loads, I will tell you one thing, they balance better than just about any other tyre out there including the big name flagship tyres.
I have had them on my cars and will use them when the current stuff wears out, seems to me all this talk about skidding to a halt in the rain and spinning out on roundabouts etc is more about driver awareness than poor tyres...
One last note is they do feel heavier than some tyres I have to fit.

Well I was going to order some Eagle F1 Assymetric 2's but it seems I can get the same performance from a Barum so I'll get those instead.
You won't get the 'same' performance at all. What you will get is midrange performance from a midrange tyre.I've had Barums on a few cars - admittedly none of the cars had huge power - and never had a single issue with them. They do exactly what they say on the tin.

They are budget Continentials. Don't bother with budget tyres unless you're getting rid of the car soon....
OK, so if you're not getting rid soon and your money can only stretch to 'budget' tyres then don't bother - just keep the baldy ones you have (according to the above logic).Either that or get off the road because you are a peasant for using something other than Eagle Assymetrics.

Your TT was awesome, do you miss it?
The VX is in a different league though for handling, I bet you notice quite a difference

The road was damp and the car is a VX Vec V6 Turbo with 250bhp through the front wheels and I thought it would let go and start to slide but it didn't at all.
For the money, these tyres are fantastic!
I used to favour Falken FK452's but these are even better for grip and also have a better wear rating.

If you have never had to perform a single emergency stop in your entire driving career then congratulations. Mr2Mike said:

Oh come on, there are some posts on here that make out these tyres will kill you if it as much as thinks about raining! I am far from perfect but I try and leave a gap, the tyre in question will perform well enough in 99% of your drive, the other 1% is the difference and I doubt many will be at that point often driving to work.
You are missing the point entirely; very few people reach the limit of their tyres on a day to day basis. Typically the only time they do is in an emergency situation, which is exactly when you need the best possible performance from your tyres.CaptainSlow said:

With apologies for the thread-drag, I thought I'd add my two pence on the Barum tyre debate.
I've recently had a pair of Bravuris 3 XLs fitted to the rear of my Mercedes C230K Sport Coupe. As has been noted elsewhere in this thread, the Barums are absolutely fine for circa-200bhp cars (like my Merc Coupe).
There's nothing my car wants to do that these tyres can't handle, though I'd probably want to go for a premium tyre option if my Mercedes had an AMG badge on the boot. The new tyres feel considerably more secure than the Pirelli P6000s they replaced, though to be fair, the Pirellis were worn close to the legal limit when I had the Barums put on.
For warm/hot hatches and small-ish coupes, Barums are fine and dandy. For bigger, more powerful beasts, I'd suggest it's worth going up a brand level or two.
