Blade7 - lovely!

Here is my effort:

Nice, white RS2's can look a bit plain but the X pack finishes it off. The red one is long gone, haven't had one for nearly 20 years.

Sorry for being nosey, but just had a look at your profile, your 944 looks stunning! Always had a thing for 944's, & itch that is yet to be scratched smile
smileNo problem that's what it's there for, is that your 964 on your profile ?, they seem to be on the rise now the 996 is the least loved 911.
Yeah, that's mine. Bought it as a bit of a pup, & spent much time getting it back to a worthy state.

Don't like these so much.

Much prefer the rally-boy Mk2 Mexicos.
They always seemed to handle a bit better, but the 1.6 ohc was gutless.

Wouldn't have thought there was much difference in weight between a droop-snoot and a flat front to cause any marked handling difference
That's what I thought back then but they seemed to turn in better, maybe there was a hint of RS1800 in there somewhere.

So it was a zakspeed escort but now it isn't and for 55 grand you need to guess who built it ?,i also seem to remember that Nick Whiting was murdered in a gangland hit so i don't think that is a selling plus more like a huge negative.
theres a black x pack escort rs2 that is doing the rounds thats supposed to be a zakspeed built roadcar yet has no history to prove the story, its like anything with a x pack banged on is a zakspeed regardless of any paper work to prove its history.
you wouldn't buy a Monet without properly understanding what you were looking at and it seems anything zakspeed needs running by Erich Zakowski before you hand over your DeutchMarks these days.
So as for YKYWT id say TTFN whistle

I remember a mate buying an RS1800 from Mike Young's back many moons ago in the mid -80s. It did 'feel' slightly different to the droopsnoot I had but he was slightly miffed that it was no faster on the drive home than my standard car. Even back then it was twice the price. He didn't keep it that long as he was reluctant to mod it in anyway ( unlike the rest of us with the cheaper T88/Crossflow engined cars ). Had a great sound to it though

Going against the grain here but I agree. I always liked the X pack though, but this one is a bit OTT for my taste. I also can't help thinking there are some better cars around for this kind of money, but then Mk2s and Mk1s in particular seem to have gone a bit 'silly' pricewise IMHO...and I own one myself, so it's not as if I'm hoping prices come down, but just that they seem to be a bit overpriced IMHO.

I remember Mike Young buying one of my RS2's one dark night, it was a quick one on Dellorto's with a Ford group one engine, his description of it in his advert didn't sound much like my car though and I think he put the engine in something else eventually.

Thats my X-pack, sold it 10 minutes ago :-(

Mr Zakspeed used to run a Ford dealership alongside his Zakspeed outfit, this is where my car was sold from. Zakspeed fitted the kit, its aroad car not a race car, but none the less its a very rare RS2000 x-pack with some unusual touches.

I got married and had an FMC borrowed press car 1976 RS2000 as my honeymoon transport to take back to an empty Stanford-Le-Hope house (no furniture FFS) in September 1976 up to my eyballs in debt lol...also help build the first X-Pack RS2000 and tested it around the lanes in South Ockendon and not forgetting the RS1800'S me and the guys at the Aveley Pilot Plant also built we also helped on the first Capri X-Pack and Fiesta X-Pack.

I can't help but notice the side skirts on this one though, does it have ground effect?

He used to have a big ad in 'Motoring News' every week - thing is, even 25 years ago there weren't many places advertising RS1800s! IIRC it was about twice the price of an RS2 back then

Here's a very similar car at Brighton Speed Trials a couple of years back:

And here's particular favourite of mine on the Ford scene, Zakspeed rep:
