I've got to say, I really like that design. It would suit an Aston Martin badge....

I like it. It's obviously in the spirit of this:

hence the name. Perhaps AML should licence it - it would certainly broaden their range of identikit cars they have currently.

Hmmmm assuming they are carrying over the exisiting mechanicals that's not a lot of room for a big longitudinal V12 engine and transaxle...

If I were into a rear-mid engined car at this level there's about a hundred places were I could spend my dosh, McLaren and those Italians of whom the name escapes me right now being the first ports of call probably (in the latter case I'd invest in a good extinguisher, though - the colour would probably match! tongue out ).

Being front(-mid) engined, RWD and as a result being a touch more reserved and assured dynamically is in Astons DNA - why change that?

I like it, no I don't. Yes I do, no I don't. Yes I do, no I don't. Yes I do, no I don't. Yes I do, no I don't. Yes I do, no I don't. Yes I do, no I don't. Yes I do, no I don't. Oh bugger, back to designing the ultimate GT on the back of an office envelope again!!!

I think it looks very good. Aggressive, exciting, and modern.
With some tweaking it could be fantastic.
Makes me wonder why Aston don't do something similar?
I'm no expert on Astons but to me while they are great cars they all look the same and not much appears to have changed in a very long time

That said I would have thought the performance of this thing would have been better given the specs

Very very intersting looking beast...

In terms of it being generic and boring...given the legislation, engineering, drivetrain, safety, seating and aerodynamics, let alone cooling...lets see something original from those who complain...

How can it be very very interesting, or as you say "intersing", when as you admit right after that it is generic? It lacks any imagination.

no I said it was 'intersting' hehe
and I didn't say it was generic and boring...I was suggesting that those that thought it was/is should try and do better given the design constraints...

I guess the one car i can think of that is very different looking to almost everything else, & that's the Gumpert Apollo, now although it's kind of ugly, i do find that quite introsing......;)

If you were to give me the keys to the Bulldog GT, i certainly wouldn't throw them back at you, but if it were my money, i think i'd go for something that looks more unique.

Really?

The large majority of you seem to think that it is stunning but I think it is awful! I would rather have the car it is based on any day of the week, it looks wrong and out of proportion in my unprofessional opinion.

Yeh right, wish I had a fiver for every " new massively expensive, low volume, supercar with someone elses engine" I have seen. I could probably buy a new vantage !!!!

That looks terrible. It looks like someone bought an old Esprit & made a bodykit for it out of cardboard boxes, & used cotton reels for wheels.

+1

Presumably the 186mph top speed is because it's limited, even though that's not stated. Does make you wonder if they typed the right numbers in somewhere along the line though.

but it's not thopugh, not really...in silhouette especially it shares the same outline as everything else... in detail then it has something different I guess, but that's just detail, shape of grille, lights, air intakes, etc....
Car fanatics should know the difference between cars by blacked out profile alone....and if they can do that then the accusation that these cars are dull and boring doesn't fit.... if you can't tell them apart then find another hobby! hehethumbup

All that said I'd rather have the car it was based on too, and I don't care how many cars they spin from that design... beautiful is beautiful no matter how many times it gets trotted out...
Imagine going to sixth form college and every girl was Megan Fox....(or whatever your fancy is)..personally I wouldn't get bored of attending such a college...

You have to remember that was a 1980's car when angles were king, it was designed by William Towns who did the AM Lagonda of the same period which was all wedge and angles as well.

I agree it's not aged well, but as the link below says it was really more about the engineering underpinnings but I did see it at teh Motorshow when it was launched and I think a few years ago in the Gaydon museum and it looks far better in the flesh.
