Not a bad looker, i think for similar money the Ford Cougar would be a safer punt.

I think that looks better now than when it came out! Shame they ruined the interior with the fat man seats & dash, shouldv'e left it the same as the Mondeo.http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3306032.htm

Wow what a difference that makesI love em one of my all time favourite coupes, V Elegant
I had a w reg pug 406 estate from new as a company car it was total ste from the word go, it did 2 clutches in 90k miles, the electrics were a constant headache one of the spark plugs welded itself to the head, the seats gave me and a co worker back problems.
Pug service were however beter than my local ford monkeys who insisted that a wiper arm that had siezed to the spindle on a 9 month old van was not waranty.

I had a V6 saloon ~ great car. Reasonably quick in a straight line, very quick point to point on B roads 'cos it soaked up poor road surfaces, dodgy cambers etc far better than anything I've owned including a 944 Turbo. Down to small wheels & tall tyres I guess.......the suspension travel was a bit limited but it had a strong sump guard . Miss that car.
My old man had one when I was in my early 20s. In metallic red, v6, my brother and i both having just left home.
Lovely car, v6 sounded great and it was a good drive as well. Dash was dull, and the electric seat movement to get in the back broke (cable snapped inside the chair!) but apart from that totally reliable.
I was sad to see it go, lovely car.

Its pictorial, artistic licence but you get the idea, you would have to check the PCD and offset but wheels like this would really make a difference.
My point was more stick a larger wheel in an arch & it usually always looks better.I have found these by Team Dynamics that could do a good job as well
I have one of these, albeit the better 2002 (D9) limited edition black model with the 2.2 170HP Petrol. In 8000 miles of ownership it hasn't put a foot wrong or cost me a penny (apart from new winter wheels and tyres), which is more than I can say for any other car I have owned!!!
They look fantastic, handle well, are pretty quick, do 35 MPG combined/ 45MPG Motorway/ 30MPG when really pushing on, and are super comfortable. Bottom line they are an absolute bargain cost wise
I have just listed it in the classifieds this week as we are getting a more family oriented Jeep Cherokee, which I'm hoping is as good and trouble free to me as the coupe has been. I'm not expecting
it

Throw in a better door handle too an it would look good.I read in Auto Express a few days ago the this 406 Coupe design was orginally intended to be an entry level Ferrari, but they canceled and Peugeot picked up the design. Allegedly

The V6 saloons with the 210bhp engine in go really well - good Q-cari always had a soft spot for these. always caught my eye no matter where or what else was about.
my cousin had one for a short time. she bought it off a lady owner who had everything done at her Pug dealer at whatever cost.
engine gave out on her 4months later and it was scrapped under the scrappage scheme i believe.

After seeling his cerbera, my dad had one of these back in the day for 12 months or so. He replaced the Peugeot with the then new shape CLK320. The Peugeot, shocking as it may seem, was better in many ways than the Mercedes especially in terms of packaging. The Pug will swallow four six-footers with ease, the Merc won't. Only think I didn't like was that it was in that baby blue colour. Suited the car well, but not my fave...
Like it a lot. The prettiest thing Peugeot have made for a very long time. I particualrly like the "06" era of Pugs.
Looked long and hard at these but fuel prices, hugely labour intensive cambelt changes and disproportionate insurance prices put me off. Peugeot reliability doesn't bother me one bit - as long as they're looked after properly they will go forever. If they're neglected it's very easy to spot and will, granted, make for a terrible car.
Tales of French reliability issues can largely be put down to the likes of Renualt and thier frankly appaling attitude to quality control in my experiance.
