RE: PH Carpool: Porsche Carrera 2 (993)

Personally my favourite shape for the 911 - always thought it was such a great and faithful update after the 964 and the shape hasn't dated at all in my opinion. Certainly not as much as the early 996s have. Would pay the extra to get one of these over an early 996 too...well...if I ever am in such a financially privileged position
I love these 911's the are by far the best looking model(993) - I wouldn't say no to a 996 though if funds allowed seeing as the 993's are making such strong money these days
Would love a 993 Turbo in dark blue or the dark Maroon colour if the 6 numbers fall in place tonight
there was a great dispaly of of the different models of 911 at the NEC last week and the 993 stood out by far as the best one

Not sure my post went from 7:58....
That looks like a lovely 993 C2.
I owned a mint 993 C4, thing is once you get past the looks it didn't feel quite such a raw drive as the 3.2 Carrera it replaced or particularly fast in a world of TDI engined Euroboxes! It was and always will be a great place to be though.
Ultimately I ended up in another 3.2 Carrera (which I ran for 6 years as a daily driver, as I have for all my 911's). Having had a break for a year I'm now hankering after a 996 turbo, but would love a 997 GT3.
But when you see a nice 993 C2 in Polar Silver on standard wheels it does get me thinking should I!
We'll just have to see what comes up over the next couple of months!

John,
Nice one - i too bought my first porsche from Clive (Mr911), and it was a 993 Carrera too (blue with grey interior and A/C). Enjoy it, should be trouble free experience knowing Clive.
My wife regrets me selling it since...it was our first Porsche and it is not forgotten...she wishes we never sold it. Since then Clive has supplied us with numerous superbe cars (993 turbo X50, Range Rover Supercharged, 360 modena and now white 997.1 GT3RS/black 1988 SL300).

I can't think of a more apt time to point people here...

My dark blue with SMALL spoiler is in there too....
My 993 has to be the only 'selfish' purchase I've made that the OH hasn't kicked up a fuss about!!

It takes me back, I had a 993 C2 in black with 17 inch wheels, grey sport seats and sport exhaust in the mid 1990's. It remains one of the best cars I've ever owned and I still regret selling it, bullet proof, fantastic engine, a gearchange that was hewn from granite, steering feel I had never experienced before and looks that still catch my eye.
I have a 14 year year old 993 Targa, and its just amazing how well bolted together they are. I've also got a 4 year old Peugeot 307 and its astonishing just how badly bolted together THEY are. Targa is a good compromise between the hard top and the convertible, based on convertible body but I guess I'm not a good enough driver to notice any lack of sharpness on the open road. The only downside is its Zenith Blue which is Porsche's version of purple. Quite why i didn't notice when i bought it is a mystery but i guess i was too excited at the time.

Richyd, Your first shot is a good rendition of Artic as is the Ops third of Polar - Discuss.
Artic seems to be the more popular choice for 996/997. Then of course there is GT Silver
My pics were taken on a blackberry....so hardly idealArtic seems to be the more popular choice for 996/997. Then of course there is GT Silver
I'm a fan of both dark metallic's and silvers on 993's. I am TOTALLY biased of course, but I do love Arctic, it's a very light silver and very metallic, shows the curves off nicely
