So how much have dealers offered and why haven't you taken it?

I think teh OP seller is in dream land, sorry OP.

It's not a sought after car.
It's not even a good looking car.

And so close to christmas and winter,

Naw,,, take it to the 3 dealers who you phoned, adn just pray theu will still give you the £12k plus that they said on the phone.

Not a chance, when you get there, they will low ball you with an £11k.

vette

Well, it turned out the guy is genuine. We agreed on a price last night and he insisted that we deal today. The car was sold this morning.

Thank you all for the feedback!

Fair enough - I'm not familiar with the brand. What does the facelift give you on top of a pre-facelift car?
Apart from the minor cosmetic differences, it has a new engine with 184bhp.

But what HAS your local dealer offered you for a straight sale, not a px? Bottom line is, that's your bottom line. But until you get the offer, you wont know.
And your car is almost certainly worth less than you think it is!
In none of my posts did I say that the price that dealers are offering me is a PX price. All the prices I've been quoted have been for a straight sale.

It's the percentage that counts, isn't it? In that regard, I think I've done pretty well.

He has not seen the car before the sale nor did he leave a deposit.

So, no viewing, no deposit but the car is sold. If the op were a salesman and I his manager I would look for something more concrete before ringing the bell and chalking another unit up on the board.

But I've no doubt this will go through and all parties will be delighted.

Correct, only trouble is after a while you become immune to the hurt responses and get increasingly cheeky...
Such a buyers market at the moment, loads of used metal- don't get the deal you want then move on. Always careful to remain polite though- no need to be a sh!te about it and much more likely to get a deal.

So, my car is up for sale at £15k. Some guy texts me and says he's interested.
Apparently, he just sold his E92 M3 and needs something small. After about ten calls and texts between us, today he finally offered me... wait for it, £12k. Yes, £12k! rolleyes

I mean, seriously? My local dealer would take it for a fair bit more than that!

fking timewasters!

rolleyes at you, not him.

MINIs are bloody hard work to sell privately. Dealers have a massive monopoly, can offer extended warranty and TLC for no cost... Private sellers don't stand a chance.

I just sold my girlfriends 59plate Cooper D with 50k on the clock, it was very special looking and got loads of interest, lots of phone call... All offering 4k less than asking price. Despite MINI themselves offering only £3k less than asking price.

In the end we sold it to a chap who was clearly in the trade for 2.5k off the original asking price.

Just glad to see the back of it, it was her second one and they are utter crap cars.

So why are they crap? Just interested as I nearly bought an S a long while back and was pretty impressed on the test drive.
