Or even the Focus RS, regardless, it is a good idea. Or how about a microphone in the engine bay or switchable to the exhaust pipe, to play the sound on your car interior speakers.

The switchable sports exhaust is also available on both models and comes heartily recommended! £1,772 very well spent.
That's a bloody expensive switch! Alternatively, http://www.dmhperformance.com/ecutout.htm for $199.

I would have hoped that Porsche would take the fight to Nissan and offer something at least comparable but no , just make it more exclusive .

I dont understand the logic in comparing a brand new car to a used one?
Quite. It's a pointless (and common) argument. Relevant to an individual with money to spend but not the overall concept of car buying. The car has to be a new car before it can exist second-hand.
and the running costs are completely different too. I can afford a new Golf and I can afford a 2nd hand M5, and although I heart would love to own the M5, I can't afford the economy, or the 19" rubber, or the high performance brakes, or.....

I think it's hilarious the amount of car makers who charge the earth for stuff you should be frankly getting with the cost of the car. Whats even funnier is the idiots who pay for it.

Wonder how many people will spec 5k on Ceramic brakes. Wonder how many people need them? Steel stoppers are more than adequate, especially on beetles, they have fantastic brakes.

I think the last line should read first not to build a £100,000 carrera wis as it looks mighty difficult.

I am seriously inplressed at what they have achieved for such an amazing sports car. Would love one.

The options game was invented by charging for a radio as an extra in the 50's.
The Deutschemarques have finessed this to the point where only the bodywork, chassis and interior are standard and then the game begins. Apart from a few chunks of metal why is a 1.8 dearer than a 1.2,or a 3.6 dearer than a 3.4 wheels the same, paint shiny or dull, wipers badges, stereo, satnav the list is almost endless.I did my Porsche config last week and hit over a £100k easypeasy and then thought no it's a barmy game. If everybody bought secondhand cars would prices rise or fall for new cars?
Incidentally what's happened to the 2 year M.O.T.? Killed by SMMT/manufacturers no doubt or if not yet then it will. My advice is to be vigilant, go to the market & check your current insurance costs, even more with rescue packages, and watch out for renewals taken from your bank account on the basis of continuous cover for these as they are doing it while we sleep. Having reprimanded Green Flag for upping my cost by 35% for 1 flat battery call-out the website is offering cover for £60 a year less to newcomers. Finally, enjoyed a peek at McLaren's premises last night on BBC, poor old Ron and his floor tiles and the trolley wheels, let's hope his eye for detail solves the current hiccups before the F1 replacement is built.

It makes a five-year-old 997 at circa £32,000 a very tempting proposition.

I think comparing new and second hand is very relevant, unless you only buy new and in which case you do indeed need to convince yourself that you can't compare...
I really hope people will carry on getting massive depreciation hits on new for the rest of us to benefit though.

The action photo at the top shows the front end seemingly lifted up, unless it just gone over a hump. Assuming it's turning right (or power sliding) I'd expect the front left to sit further down.

I'm no expert it's just looks a little odd.

Oh, I'm completely with you on the depreciation front. When I hit my mid-life crisis I hope to be able to take full advantage of the fact that a 2nd hand M5 (for example) costs the same as a new Golf. However, the fact remains that a supercar, regardless of purchase price, will always have supercar running costs.

When it is my money, I usually go for 2nd cars because I'm not prepared to take the depreciation hit. However, having had brand new (company) cars, I also appreciate the "soft facts" of new car ownership - that new car smell, my choice of options, no-one else having spent 40,000 miles sitting (and farting) in the driver's seat, the perfect scratch free interior....etc, etc.

Or maybe it just highlights how inherently imbalanced the 911 is, irrespective of all the layers of technological marketing bullst they add to it ?
