So not only are some lucky enough to have several Ferraris, they even have the extra luck of being able to chose special ones all for themselves.

I thought this was becoming insane in today's world...
Remember the trouble in the English streets not that long ago?
This will make them still more bitter...

It should be the more cars you have the higher up the list.

This lot should put me near the top! smilesmokin

Agreed - but I'm always led back to this basic question: what have people done in order to 'qualify' for an invite to buy something like a 599GTO, Enzo etc in the first place? Some are obviously high-profile celebrities but what about the likes of people on PH forums who aren't famous but are wealthy enthusiasts and collectors - how do they build up a reputation with Ferrari in the first place?
I have an "illustration" of this with Porsche.

I've never really liked them, but I did start getting interested in them several years ago. idea
I went into a showroom and asked for a catalogue of the 911. They said they were "reserved to those who buy a car"! confused
A week or two later I saw several at a swapmeet... eek
I wrote type about TEN times to the main importer in Belgium (d'Ieteren), and they NEVER EVER answered. shoot

And yet I had made a full-size painting of a Porsche 935 for an interview of Jacky Ickx on RTL TV.
I had been filmed on their stand at a motorshow with an invited humorist.
My brother worked at d'Ieteren during about 20 years.
I had several friends who owned Porsches.
Never have I managed to have a catalogue! nono

Conclusion:
I just HATE Porsches! tank

I suppose you're right that the street hooligans probably don't even know Ferrari exists!
But today, I hear everywhere that one should be careful about not showing off too much... because it is politically incorrect, indecent. Isn't Ferrari adding to the problem?

I think it is better not to have a bright coloured noisy car and parade in front of low-classed people (sorry, but they do exist!)

S*d the "faithful collectors", what about faithful enthusiasts? You know, the people who actually DRIVE the cars rather than keeping them cocooned in a humidity-controlled garage for the rest of their life. These "collectors" are basically just speculators too... they just take longer to sell the cars than "flippers".

Eh? So its taken many many years for this idea to filter from Lancia (who did this A LONG time ago) back to Ferrari?

Actually the Lancia idea was better, you are a valued customer, you can have a special car made for you only. None of this 'first drive' nonsense...

But now its an offical club they will be able to charge an annual fee.
That's all it is; big spenders at Ferrari dealerships have always received invites to place early deposits on new production and limited run cars, except now they can charge these people another £5000 for an leather Ferrari branded yearbook or something.

I know someone living not too far away from me; he owns 2 California Spyder (1960-1961), a 275GTB, and 2 more recent Ferraris. His garage is beautiful, lovely.
But, he is always dressed completely in white (shoes included) and holds a gold handbag.
I think I still prefer remaining normal (well I think I am!)

So if you like to use a 400 for crossing the Continent in style and speed with the family, have a 308GTS to enjoy the European sun, a 550 for wife and you GT duties, etc you dont count?

So what IS the cut off of the models you need to own?
You'd still be two short and I'll guess that unless you bought them all new, then they won't care.

It's this "up themselves" attitude that always grates with me about Ferrari - not that I am, have ever been or am probably likely to ever be in position to buy one - used let alone new, so my thoughts are as nothing to them. That and reading things like Chris Harris's piece on them. Wonderful cars - but even if I could, I wouldn't own one.

They build expensive and desirable cars, fair enough. Price and a first come, first served mentality should be the only mechanism to stratify owners IMO.

Usually behind glass but wanted a few shots before the collection was put in boxes for a while. I have a special model cleaning brush for the moments when they do need a dust.

Take a look at this photo I took a couple of years back. The gentleman with the yellow Diablo roadster is the one wearing the white linen outfit carrying a manbag.
