Never mind the car...should they really be re-making this series?

The original was an undoubted classic...and a product of its time. Its success was not only due to the car chases but the rampant misogynism (ouch..heavy word for this time of the morning!), lots of guns shoot, police brutality and generally un-PC behaviour.

The new version will surely have to include a (dominant, but feminine) female boss; careful reading of rights to crims; no smoking in the car (new regulations!); observance of speed limits and lengthy case referrals to the IPCC judgerolleyes

It just won't be the same... cry

Great another remake. rolleyes

Is there another writers strike or have we really run out of ideas?

Black Focus ST (probably with paedo' tints) should be able to keep up with all the Audi RS4's the drug dealers use.

Useless without RWD but that's hard to get without losing the blue collar touch, ruling out M5s and AMGs - so it would have to be a black VXR8 or maybe a Jag XFR.
This, this and a thousand times this.
Agreed, the perfect car, don't forget Regan has a driver!

I get the feeling this will be an aqbsolute crock of st!

I would have thought another Audi RS4 no?
Are The Sweeney meant to be Flying Squad? If so, the real thing had a few B7 RS4 Avants IIRC, so a realistic option for the film.

Film sounds awful.

Plan B should stick to music, he is much, much better at that.
I thought he did a reasonable job in Harry Brown.

Sorry but i can only think of an XFR, quick, right size and BRITISH! a BMW?? for christ's sake.
What a crap thing to say, queue RWD oversteering into a tree and killing the occupants and the baddies getting away.

Well it can't be as bad as the Minder remake! yuck

Unfortunately proper RWD barges without pretentious badges died out with the Vauxhall Omega (getting on for 10 years ago now)... there isn't a new car which would be right. Jag XF is probably the closest.

Only in the UK and EU land

still plenty of them out there in the rest of the world...

Holden Commodore
Holden Caprice
Ford Falcon
Dodge Charger
Chrysler 300C
Infiniti G35
Hyundai Genesis

These are just the saloons... there's plenty more coupe's and sportscars and this doesn't include the "premium" brands either

I wonder how much Ford are paying for this bit of advertising??

That would be like remaking the Italian Job and using a BMW MINI as the lead car tongue out
