They should've just remade it based in the 70's and used the original cars wink

A Focus roflroflrofl

I wonder how much Ford are paying for this bit of advertising??
If it's anything like the Ford product placement in Thunderbirds and the last 2 Bond films, it's gonna be painful to watch.

There already was a resurrection of The Professionals, remember?
Nissan made a couple of (very funny) spoof ads with the Professionals driving an Almera in the early '90s, then ITV actually made a new series with the characters all driving Nissans! I remember a 200SX which at least was RWD.

Terrible programme though which rightly got cancelled after the first series.

New Sweeney movie sounds utter cr@p. Gene Hunt was the best resurrection of Regan, there doens't need to be another.

shouldn't they just use whatever the flying squad use for real? Bet it's not a focus st for detective superintendants...

Surely using whatever the real flying squad uses, whatever that is would be better. The Focus RS does stick out as bring obvious.

They always had a driver too will they carry that on or doing the driving themselves?

I don't think that its going to be Regan's car is it. Regan is definatly a Jag man though sinse the clamp downs on flying squad corruption its more likely to be a 4 pot smoker than an XFR.

In the original series carter was a young Jack the Lad, bit wide, bit of a geezer.
So in the context of PlanB/Carter's wheels a hot hatch ford is perfect.

If it was anything like real life, they'd have the latest and cheapest diesel stbox, and the only ones to ever leave the office would be the lowly DCs and DSs. The gaffers would be sat behind a desk making policy decisions!!!
As (nearly) always it will be wholly inaccurate!

My vote would be Bodie and Doyle in a Maserati GTS and a QP GTS, whilst the baddies are in a Porsche Panamera.

Which is all well and good, but they were characters in The Professionals, not The Sweeney. Wrong gritty 70s drama, old chap... wink

What a minger of a car.

Also, the new Focus is a very big car, now completely disproportionate thanks to that yawning mouth.

Ooh, that looks almost passable like that. Very nice.

But still, for the Sweeney this should be the vehicular choice...

Are The Sweeney meant to be Flying Squad?
eek Please tell Me that was not a serious question!

As for:

"Flying Squad detectives Jack Regan (Ray Winstone) and George Carter (Ben Drew, aka Plan B) will squeal their way around London in a black Focus ST chasing baddies"

Who's going to be playing Bill the driver? (or Len/Fred if it's based on an earlier episode)
