Hi all

I am after a company which can make a F1/single seater style body out of GRP. Not interested in aerodynamics or wings. It just needs to look the part as it is not going on a running car.

I don't just want any old GRP company, I want one with experience who can help me with my design (as in is it possible to recreate my design in GRP or will it be structurally weak etc).

Does anybody know of anyone?

Cheers,

If it's going to be static, why does it need to be structurally strong?

I'd have a look at some custom boat fabricators. That would be the best bet I think, certainly won't be weak at least, might be a bit heavy though.

why do you want to build in GRP specifically? There are other options which might suit better. Foam Sandwich construction, Fiberglass either side of a thin layer of high density foam. Can also be done with Carbon fibre. This will be very light and a lot stronger than GRP.

I'm after the cheaper option so I would assume that carbon would be pricey?

They won't be used on a car but need to be strong-ish from being leant/sat on.

You realise this is going to be hugely expensive? Thousands and thousands?

Go speak to Jedi and the other makers of single seat racercars

It will probably cheaper to get a chassis that has been bent and is beyond putting back on the road.

But they will probably too small to fit fat games obsessed children into

Be cheaper to buy this, and mock it up

The problem with this construction is you will either need foam cut to shape to form the glass fibre or carbon over, or a mould/plug/former whatever you want to call it. The mould can often cost a good percentage of the build cost. But yeah I would of though an absolute minimum of £3/4 thousand.
