Raptor GTR: the Mosler that isn't

The sorry tale of the Mosler, the engineer and the terrible music video

The car in this music-video-of-dubious taste calls itself a Raptor GTR. It is a $700k supercar with a carbon fibre monocoque, a twin-turbo V8 with 850hp and an ability to hit 60mph in 2.6 seconds before running on to 240mph.

Get yourself the so-called CubeyGTR version (named after the leopardskin-clad, er, lady draped over the car during large parts of the video) and you'll have 1229hp and a unique "front fascia designed after Abby's exotic eyes." Right...

But before you go saying 'that's a Mosler isn't it?' it, er, isn't. Quite. It is a modified Mosler MT900S, but it's built by a company called Supercar Engineering, which is run by a J. Todd Wagner, an ex-Mosler engineer who claims to have a distributor agreement with Mosler.

Not according to Mosler: "[He] goes around claiming he has a distributorship agreement, [but] he's a distributor of nothing because we're not producing a car," he told Jalopnik.

Intriguingly, Mosler (the company) is now run by Jill Wagner, J. Todd's ex-wife, and reports suggest that Wagner's ejection from Mosler specifically precludes him from any involvement. And also that Cubey is 'romantically linked (as they say in the tabloids). Curiouser and Curiouser...

OK, so I like the sound and supposed performance of the car in question, however WTF is with the vid? Utterly moronic and amateur in extremis!

Don't let the board of Lotus see this - they will definitely be inspired to do some similar marketing.

Highly amusing.

I assume it is a parody ?

Obviously fans of Colin Chapman. He always liked to make one component do the job of two, and here we see the active air brakes doubling up as doors. Very clever.

Y'realise that women have those too - and some men don't have them - and you can remove em or create em wink

As for the video - it IS a joke, yeah?

Back to the car, seems an lot of money for what you are getting. if you wanted to 'di it yourself' (well pay someone to build it for you) you could buy a Mosler for let say £150K and then pay Nelson racing to build and install a 1800bhp LSX engine. See below link as they have already done one.....

Slamming the doors with acceleration is an age-old trick - used to go through the Tyne Tunnel to work around the same time as someone in a Diablo (kit I suspect) and he did this every single day...

I really hoped the door would fall-off but it never did...

The bit where she started the lame miming along to the operatic-ish singing almost had me falling off my chair. Such a hilariously bad video.

Can we see the car in action without all the other ste going on now?
