Gerry McGovern is making it difficult for the likes of Kahn and Overfinch by marketing cars which are already decked-out with vulgar tat (although I understand the LRX show car was from Julian Thompson).

Saw my first one in the flesh last night.

Waaaaay bigger than I expected, it's certainly got some presence.

I really liked it. getmecoat
I thought it looked smaller than I expected, like a Freelander that had been sat on by an elephant.

You were probably looking at the engine.

I really don't know how they can get away with calling it a coupe. Its a 4x4, you'd call it a hatchback at most.

Also, 44 grand for a 2.2 diesel engine is obscene. It actually makes me want to.vomit.
So if they rammed a screaming V8 in there it would be OK rolleyes
I don't really know what you mean by 'screaming' V8, but it would probably be more acceptable. Or maybr a V6. Why the roll eyes smiley?

These will sell well around the world. Good for the UK.

It looks good (great actually IMHO), but time will tell it it's good to drive, and whether it's well made.

My worry is whether they've made this one with a more robust transmission than previous efforts. There are so many reports of "rubbish gearboxes" that I guess that there must be some truth in the tales we all hear.

I wouldn't buy one myself because it's just too expensive for what it is. I'd probably prefer a well specced Skoda Yeti if I wanted (and needed) a compact SUV with 4x4.

My Dad picked up an Si4 (2.0 turbo petrol) Dynamic Evoque last week and I must say that I'm extremely impressed by it. The quality of it is striking, and it drives excellently. If I were in the market for that type of car, I'd have it over anything else in a heartbeat. It's just packed full of lovely little details and some of the technology on it is unreal. The new full-fat Range Rover will be magnificent, I'm sure.
