Well as anybody who suffers a fit, has to have a fit free twelve months before being able to drive again, then why not include anyone who has a heart attack or angina, or chemotherapy, or even a major operation for, shall we say gall stones, ulcers, prostrate cancer, erectile dysfunction etc, where do you draw the line???, remember more people under the age of 25 have accidents than people over 65, as a percentage.

agreed, stop impotent men driving and you'd cut instances of road rage over night. significantly.

The 335d is an auto so get him one of them.

Remember to remap it, and stick a set of winter tyres on.
With weak knees he will find it difficlut to throw cans of Red Bull.

A better suggestion would be an Audi, then he can feel the imagine and forget about leg pains, see?

I see your point, but if he got the coupe version, some sunglasses and a tight vest, he could roll down to the gym and work on his leg muscles, all before going in for a quick spray tan.

Hmm I can see that working, 37m people to be tested every 5 years, somehing like 25-30,000 people per day in addition to those taking normal tests & retests.
hehe

I love the people who come up with these ideas, without a single thought to the logistics of it. At least five years is better than every three years that someone started a thread about last week.

LOL at that.

My dad is not a petrolhead anyway so thats a non starter.

He has never owned any interesting cars for his 60+ years of driving.

Thanks to all those who have made good suggestions,i will be seeing him again

this weekend and will see what he intends to do.smile

As mentioned by one poster ,there have been cases of oldies pressing accelarator

instead of brake in an auto and i do not want to see my dad doing this.

And not all 80+ people are as fit n healthy as your american aviator buddies.rolleyes

Lastly ,just today i saw an old bloke who had just smashed into the back of

a bin lorry on a clear road with beacons flashing on it.

I would prefer my dad to stop driving before causing ANY damage to ANYTHING.smile

In a nation of 312 million people? Never!

I'd suggest there's considerbaly more cases of young drivers also confusing brake with accelerator but just do it in a slightly different way. smile

If you do go down the route of an assesment in an auto (good plan) just arrange it from your house or somewhere away from where he lives so,s not to
embarass him?
