Since when is a 6.0 V8 a con? Get it LPGd and MTFU!

Cons;
  • the interior is plain nasty looking (have you seen the steering wheel!?)
  • Tim Westwood probably has one

Even on LPG I can't imagine you averaging much over 20mpg, which'd be fine on a fun, rapid car but fking hell it's a slow, clumsy yank tank with big wheels. Can't understand the appeal at all.

Uneconomical and I share a dodge Ram with my brother just now which is a bit dear to run.

It's the image I cant get past.

And it would be alot of money to LPG.

You'll look like a drug dealer.

People say that sort of thing about Mitsubishi Evos, black BMW 7 series but by fk, if ever there was a car that screams "organised crime", it's that monstrosity.

None of that can be more of a deterrent than the fact Justin Timberlake has two of them.

Are you a rapper? Philadelphia crack kingpin? No? Then you'll look like a tool. If that doesn't bother you then you should go for it. It'll probably be a giggle.

Bob Dylan advertising for Cadillac. Nice car to drive after a war, as he once said...

A safe bet that you'll be best placed to ignore 99% of the advice you receive on PH about this type of motor.

I've driven a few, been carted around in a lot more, and like them. I wouldn't have one over here, because too many idiots will jump to the conclusion you're a drug dealer, footballer etc. I couldn't care less about such things ordinarily (least of all on websites which are a sea of MX5s, resale grey hatchbacks or diesel rep-mobiles), but I don't like the thought of customers reaching the same conclusion. I also prefer the Suburbans and Tahoes (same car, different frock) as they're a bit more subtle styling wise - worth considering if you're troubled by the image of an Escy.

They're big (especially the EXT ones), brash and garish, but they're very comfortable, the vortec is a cracking engine too IMO. Thirsty, but not SRT10 thirsty, and they're bloody great for doing miles in. If it's well specced it's worth considering. Personally I've always preferred Suburbans / Tahoes, but the Escalades are decent.

The older ones did have a bit of a low rent interior vibe, despite being clad in wood and leather there was a definite lack of finesse in the details, the newer ones are spot on. They're hardly slow for their size either - ISTR 0-60 in the mid to high 7's for the 6.0 Vortec.

If you like it, get it, they're good motors. Make a lovely noise too.

Well, this idiot has been carted around in one, I stand by my drug dealer view of them.

I'll be honest, every time I've seen one I've wondered which local team he played for, much the same as when I see a fully optioned Range Rover Sport I wonder how much debt they've got in BTL mortgages. I've never cared about the image projected, but I'm totally hypocritical in that regard.

Thankfully GM made eleven million and seventy six varieties of the same car, so if the bling-fest that is the escalade is a bit much, there's always the other GM ones. Size aside, I think the 'burbans look pretty good without being OTT.

There is a video on Youtube and it's almost as sinister as the one he did for Victoria's Secret (in which he leers at ladies in their underwear). In the last ten years or so he appears to have been modelling himself on the Child Catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Comfortable? Um, the 2009 model a certain lighting supplier used to demo their new LED headlights that had become an option on the Escalade wasn't really - you'd be more comfortable on a camel (as with most things riding on big heavy wheels connected to a big heavy ladder frame with big heavy bits with you sitting about five feet off the ground so all the car's rocking movements relative to the tarmac are amplified - can I have my sick bag now please?). Performance of the all mouth, no trousers variety, and as for 'handling', er...

All is relative but sometimes I wonder what poster's references are. If you think Escalades are comfortable, your standards must be pretty low and I would urge you to step inside a big Merc or a Citroën C6...
