MINI white taillamps failed MOT
Discussion
I have just started going to a specialist in MINI's as also the parts and labour cost from a main dealer for a 10 year mini are ridiculous.
The mini was also MOTd previous to this one by the same dealer in for at least the last 2 years…hmmmm
the price of the reflectors is peanuts but this is not very good really as there are quite a few out there with these kind of lamps.
So expect MINI 's with white lamps appearing with red blotches on their rumps very soon.
thanks for all the info guys and gals

Yep this is being done, but why did the BMW dealer sell the car without it being road legal??
Because they traded the car in, valeted it, put it on their forecourt and sold it to you...You can't blame a dealer for not spotting something so minor.
I think the car never had them as I remember the accessory brochure didn't have them on either (2001-2002)
No real beef to grind other than it is amazing that the mot passed for 7 years and suddenly it doesn't and now have to stick some reflectors on the rear
Seriously, OP?
The law is the law. MOT regs are MOT regs. Your car does not comply. Previous MOT passes prove nothing. All previous MOTs with those lights fitted without reflectors in the bumper proves merely that the MOT tester did not know his arse from his elbow.
There is no "blame" anywhere. Stop looking for it, accept that you need to spend a couple of quid on some reflectors, and stop whining.
Honestly.
They look st anyway.

If you're worried about the aesthetics of the rump of your Mini, why don't you just stick the red reflectors on with some low tack adhesive for the pusposes of the MOT re test. The reflectors might "fall off" again shortly after driving away from the testing station.
Well with all this cold wet and windy weather we are having they might just do that any way looking to put the round ones here and eventually black out the silver foil pieces.
I guess this is now getting into MINI thread area
