I still can't believe PH gave a brand new one of these to a guy who sold it after two weeks because he already had a vrs ........
I have a few comments on this;

1. I would have probably done the same.
2. I am extremely jealous.
3. Already had a VRS - how is that the same in any way?!

A nice car but I think the first Richard Burns Impreza, the RB5, has a bit more pizazz.

I see one of these parked up at a business unit on my way home from work every day and I admire it every time I go past, I just wish I could see the owner tonk it off down the road one day!

ugly car, has not aged well but is regarded as a great drive. I would probably buy one for sub 5k.

Find it hard to get excited by these, i'm sure they're great to drive but they seem soulless - like a microwave...
Having owned a 2003 PPP I can confirm they are definately not souless!!! I woke everyday with the excitement of climbing in and driving it. And now I dont have one, I cant wait to own one again one day. I miss the sound and the immense power! Cant own a better car for the money and as for that unique scooby burble! oh my smile

if you want a decent write up that shows the soul not just the dribble above, check this link : http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/members/showCar.asp?c...

Brilliant car, crap article. A car of that magnitude needs a much deeper treatment, particularly considering the anniversary last weekend.

My mate at work has just sold his RB5 with prodrive for £4k - std, mint, 40k miles. I almost cried as I just ain't got the money at the moment. He sold it through Scoobynet and his phone melted. The RB5 is an amazing car. I drove a modded RB320 a couple of months ago over a deserted Woodhead pass and surrounding roads - amazingly fast, but unfortunately it just failed to do anything for me, which was a major surprise!

Hmmn.

Perhaps the worst article I've read on PH? Lacking in content, a bit twee and really not up to the usual standard. The car's not my cup of tea either which probably doesn't help, they had their day back in the '90's when their motorsport heritage actually meant something. For me, these later recreations seem somewhat cynical ways of cashing in on old history. A proper RB5 is another matter of course.

None of this is the owners fault of course, each to their own and I hope they get many years of fun from it. Just a bit of a shame that the ownership experience wasn't better represented.

Compared to most run of the mill hot hatches or the usual middle class snooze-fest BMWs, Mercs and Audis, I'd say this has plenty of "soul" for real money.
Definitely have a lot more soul and character than the majority of cars on the road today.

My mum loves her '06 Spec-D. Had it from new, had the opportunity to change for 'more grown up' cars on several occasions but just can't bring herself to part from it! It is a very special feeling car, anyone who says it's soul-less obviously hasn't owned or driven one.

I reckon the RB320 is the best looking Impreza ever made, even more so than the 22B.

Is that front bumper original? It's just that looks like something a chav knocked-up using a fibreglass bath and chickenwire!?

I realise that's FAR from the point of the car and I'm sure it's great but it's NOT pretty from the front!

Ok, so the car devides opinion and the story is a bit thin. This artilce has "PistonHeads" in it.

That last sentence.

We should be celebrating with fellow PHers over finding THE car for them, not either mocking the article or shunning their car choice.

I say fair play. Not my cup of tea but if you love it, you love it.

I understand your point however, we should never celebrate mediocrity.

The article is front page featured and has the feel of something written by a disinterested work experience youth five minutes before home time on a Friday.

Lest we forget this is what happend to Fifth Gear, which nearly killed it.
