Basically as the Title suggests, do you think that any modern car be it Hot Hatch or Supercar that will go down as an "iconic" car like say...An F40 or VW Campervan has? Is it possible that we will forget about things like the Aventador in years to come but still remember the Miura and Diablo?

Etc etc..

From thinking about previous classics I think production numbers are very important, even complete rubbish from the 70s and 80s have turned into classic cars as they were just so rare,

Anyhow, a few that have the potential:
- Aston martin vanquish
- BMW Z8
- BMW M Coupe
- Mercedes black series cars
- Porsche GT cars (GT2/GT3 esp 996)

One British car beyond all others. Morgan.

The Morgan Three wheeler. Not cheap but this will escalate in value.

My first car was a 1932 Morgan Three wheeler (Secondhand) in 1963. I think I paid about £50 for it with its JAP 1100CC engine. Probably worth £35,000 mow possibly more. Mind you I would have killed myself in it!

Or really any decent Morgan. Look at the Aero and Plus Eight.

Morgan have a real stranglehold on iconic cars that escalate in value.

Thats my point, are we going to remember them, as they aren't that Iconic, whereas the Countach and Miura were bedroom wall posters for lots of kids in the 80's, my dad included, same with the 430, will that be remembered like the F40 and the 250 GTO? Is there a modern car that is either a design classic, or just something that will go down in history as one of the all time greats? (basically rewording my first post)

I would say the Murci will become iconic, the first V12 Lambo of the 21st Century. The thing to remember is that kids dont need posters on their bedroom wall. They can just fire up the xbox and drive the cars they dream of owning.

It is a subject that I have puzzled over for a few years. There just seem to be so few new iconic cars around. All the big German metal with big bhp and phenomenal speed just seems to be a bit - meh. Characterless I guess. Maybe the Maserati Quattroporte? The Mk 1 Focus RS is already there, I don't know if the most recent version will be an all-time classic.

As a bit of a wildcard, what about something like the daihatsu material or nissan cube, if they're considered modern. I think any car that looks barmy has the potential to become a classic.

To be a classic, there has to be enough of them built to 'save' in the first place. This car, perhaps in RHD form would fall into the category of relic.
