What's the best car warranty ?

My wife's Mini is 3 years old on the 16th Dec.2011,
MINI has invited her to renew her warranty at a cost of £217-350 with £250 excess and type of warranty ranging from 'Full Comprehensive' to 'Driveline Warranty'.
She already had the known Timing belt change due to the 'death rattle' in the R56 MINI CS only 1 month ago under warranty with good resolution of the 'diesel' sounding startup at 38000miles.
My question is whether to fork out for the BMW-MINI annual warranty at the above price or go for an 'aftermarket' stand alone warranty from the net i.e.

What's the PH massif experence on using the non-manufacture warranty experience.
I suspect you pay for what you get but just needs to gather some opinion before proceeding.
