T'was a superb boot, considering the engine was back there too!
The Mk3 had very poor boot space in comparison to the Mk2 though.
Thats because the mk3 has a frunk instead of a boot + 2 x bins. Storage wise its the same as an MX5 but its a pita to access it.

A good idea but they will mess it up by the usual horrible design efforts of recent years, I am afraid.

I can't see it happening myself. The Supra (if they build it) would have to compete with the likes of the GTR, so i would guess parts would be used from the Lexus LFA, which would put costs right up. As for the MR2, i hope not, never liked any generation of them.

So you hope they don't build a car because you happened to not like them? What an odd attitude. Sod everyone else, Wheelman didn't like them. Cancel the plans.

Odd thing to say. "I don't like X so no-one should have X!!"

I hope they get Lotus to do the "handling" on any new MR2 as they did on the MK1. Thinking along that line could Lotus do more? Like they did for Vauxhall. The only one I would want to own.

Could the new MR2 be a smaller car more like the Smart Roadster/Coupe or Suzuki Cappuccino? These could be very interesting cars if they used electric hybrid tech to improve the performance and not just to save flue.

If the new MR2 does happen and is designed to sit underneath the 86, I'd imagine it'll be a 1600 with 160hp and around 1100kg. Lotus developed handling would be cool.

Will it follow the design of the Best looking MR2 or the new shape, not so good looking? Important aspect!

So in theory you could have a trio of Toyota sports cars gracing your garage. I don't know if any future MR2 equivalent would sit under the GT-86. I always thought the Celica and MR2 were both around the same price and aimed at different buyers. A rear engined, rear wheel drive two seater with roadster, coupe and t-bar options for under £30k would be nice.

The mr2 should sit above the 86 :O what happened there? They seem to have swapped over at some point.

I imagine the Supra needs to rival the GTR so expect similar pricing which leaves a gap for the MR2 to slide into in both commuter and turbo variants biggrin

fk me if that ends up being the future I am going to put my head in a teleporter and press 'go.'

Why did the car in second place end up winning the race - was RoboHamilton bestowed a virtual penalty infront of him or something?

I would love a new MR2. Not a day goes by when I don't get into my Turbo and think "bloody hell, this is a great car". I have such a love for Toyota's efforts of the late 80's and 90's. They were on top of the world, making amazing cars and seemingly knocking them out for fun. I'd love to see Toyota get back to that sort of thing. Lets face it, the competition has died off massively and we petrolheads are in need of some proper cars.

I also like the fact that the Toyota man speaking here appreciates what petrolheads want. We're after smart, revvy engined sports cars. No-one wants a smokey old diesel saloon, listening to the engine clatter as it puffs it's way down the road. We're after sporty numbers that make you grin and encourage you to push them hard down dual carriageways, down B-roads and roundabouts. Not make you want to take the kids to school, do the shopping and jump on mumsnet to brag about how your car has never done less than 45mpg!

Come on Toyota, the world is waiting...and make sure the new MR2 gets another stupidly powerful turbo version, please!
