Well I didn't vote for them ....

Just been quoted 3 Grand to have my Van " converted " so it meets this lots emission target . What a frigging joke ! From Jan I can no longer venture within the M25 else I give this lot £100 per day of my hard earned . My vehicles value has now hit rock bottom and no help from this bunch towards the 3 grand I have to somehow find , or see if a 2003 Engine can be fitted . Anyone else being shafted ?

A lot are perfectly usable & maybe only 7 or 8 years old so hardly bangers. My 51 year old smokey Land Rover is an old banger as is my 28 year old 3.5 Land Rover, my 7.5 litre 1967 Camaro isn't quite an old banger but probably poisons more kittens than the op's van & all are perfectly legal in London & will be for many years to come. smile

Bit of a tricky one. I like it in principal, the principal to my eyes to get poorly-serviced vans off the roads; a shoestring-maintained 54 Transit is going to be smokier than a mate's immaculate V-reg example, for instance. However, how do you quantify that? frown

Its sounds so stupid it must be some EU directive neither party could do anything about.

Dig a bit about the reasons for most things (HIPs too IIRC) and EU meddling isnt far away.

I believe the enacting legislation for Low Emission Zones is a Europe thing, but there won't have been any compulsion to put it in place since we don't have them elsewhere. IIRC the main difference is DPFs, which only store up the soot until after the emissions test cycle has finished. rolleyes

Neutral.. By ' I didn't vote for this lot' I assume u meant you voted labour. Which in fact means you DID vote for the people that put this in place. The legislation for the lez has been in place for years with different phases scheduled to come in over the years. So you might want to think more about who u vote for in future...

It's always the fault of the one that's in power hehe I noticed at work that as soon as the Conservatives were in, Labour were saints all of a sudden. Took them about two days to forget about Labour fking everything up rolleyes

If it worked like that I'd agree.

Thanks for all the replies . I didn't vote for any of them . There all a bunch of T......rs .

Van I'n question is a late 90s Ducato , TD . Its anyones guess how it's value has been hit . My partner lives a mile inside the frigging M25 , yet I won't be able to visit her I'n it . This will cause so much aggro as We go away I'n it as often as we can afford to .

My pal runs a garden maintenance biz, he has been very hard hit by the recession and now can't use his Navarra within the m25 . He just hasn't got the money to buy a newer work truck . There is absolutely No help from this lot towards the conversion cost either .
Wonder how much profit the Filter Conversion cos are making out if this ??

Not all of inside the M25 comes under the LEZ. I have no idea if you've seen the map or not but here's a link to it. You never know you might be lucky. smile

ETA.. Of course it isn't possible to link to the actual map, no that would be far too convenient, you need to click on "where does it operate?" tab.

But how is it going to monitor these 'poorly serviced vans'? It can't follow that at all. It's just bullst, frankly. You can own a van with X engine and not be allowed into the LEZ without paying a stload per day, but you can get away with driving a car/4x4 with same X engine into the same LEZ every day scot-free. It's bks.

I beleive that at every exit point on the 25 ,into Londineum ,a frigging camera monitors every vehicles reg no . Anything Diesel that isn't on their F data base then gets an automated £ 1,000 fine ?

No, not all of inside the M25 falls within the LEZ. There's a map linked in my last reply.
