if you can afford the fuel and general servicing bills then they'll cope with big miles no sweat. it's what the super saloons are designed for....thundering down the autobahn at silly speeds all day long, whilst being civilised around town, or on a winters morning when the weather is dreadful, and provide a quick turn of pace around a lovely road when you want them too.
30k miles/year won't be much of an issue for the engine, but it might be for your wallet.
I'm guessing average 18mpg if your lucky?? With average speed of 35mph. 30k miles/year won't be much of an issue for the engine, but it might be for your wallet.
Not doing the maths but fag packet hints at c£7k a year on fuel....

Owners on audisrs say you need to budget 10k a year to run an RS6, NOT including buying or fuel!!
And Keep all your fingers crossed the gearbox, torque converter or DRC suspension doesn't fail

So c£17k gross salary to pay for general running
Then for the fuel c£12k gross
So a total of £29k gross wage to run this car....
Frankly you could buy one for c£10k and run it till it breaks just oil etc changes then when it does go buy another and repeat. Not the nicest thing to suggest but by doing this I'd save £17k a year... Sure I'd lose the value of the car butit would always have a minimum value spares non runner. Probably min price £4k?

i could imagine in a year you may need to spend 10k, but certainly not year on year.
i'd rather an E39 M5 though to that RS6.... i think they look better too and are hardly a slouch!
as this video shows....

They are very high maintenance, brake discs, tyres, services etc all add up bigtime.
I run an RS4 powered S4 and that is costly, an RS6 is in another league again!
Eg B5 RS4 front discs are 500 quid a pair, RS6 are similar or more.
10k a year budget is from owners on audi addicts forum, not just a guessed figure
Remember, I did originally say you need to BUDGET 10k, which are potential costs, but you won't get much change from it.
Just because you can pick one up for 10k up it still is a 40k plus car to run and maintain

Had the pleasure of a passenger ride in a RS6 a few weeks ago. Very quick, a Ferrari 360 felt quicker over the same stretch of road, you could really feel the acceleration whereas the Audi seemed to have arrived at a fast speed with very little effort. The owner reckoned on 23mpg on motorway runs. Apparently 700-750 bhp is only a £1500 re-map away.

he said the dearest car to maintain was the lambo 640, the second was the RS6, above the fezza's and porkers

That figure would be for the C6 not C5djdestiny said:
The V10 costs even more!

Personally I'd rather have a B5 RS4 with remap, down pipes and exhaust running 500bhp over a c5 rs6, similar performance but a lot cheaper to run!
Another option is what I've got, a 500bhp s4
Very true and of course you can have the 3ltr stroker conversion too pushing horsepower up to the 600++bhpGet reading audisrs.com for all info on S/RS audis

I owned a C5 S6 last year. Essentially the same as the RS6 without the turbo's. Same monstrous bellowing 4.2 V8 lump. I absolutely loved driving it but even that watered down super estate was averaging 14mpg around the houses. I had a puncture in it and it proved damned expensive to replace the 255/55/18 iirc Michelin's and that was even more expensive as you are not supposed to only replace one tyre on a 4wd as it can mess up the diffs....so the internet says Cambelt and service was well over a grand as well!
Lovely car though....loads of presence and beautifully made! and that's just the S6.

You don't even need that, I could swap my k04's for rs6 turbos and clear 550bhp. Add water injection and a couple of others bits and bobs and I'd be as good as 600bhpdjdestiny said:
