you joke, by my mx5 was definitely quicker than a gt3 rs round the Carousel
I seriously doubt anybody doing multiple laps on the 'Ring would go 10/10ths through the carousel every time smile

Not many! 6k gets you a 500bhp s4 at the moment in the current market. That's a lot of bang per buck!

Anything with a small block Chevy. And it won't cost 10 grand a year in bits

at the risk of getting stoned to death or universally hated....

i had the use of an RS6+ a few years ago, ended up having it for the weekend. I can honestly say (acceleration aside-its biblicly quick for what it is) i didnt like it. I was knocking round in a clio williams at the time so 2 cars from very different ends of the spectrums. The problem(S) i had with it were exactly the same as that of my Audi A4 i had before the williams. maninly ride, steering and brakes. I appreciate that over a weekend you cant form that great a basis for review but i didnt mind giving it back. After the novelty of teh ridiculous acceleration wore off i hated it. Then i'd floor it and love it again. Then have to negotiate a dodgy bit of road and hate it again etc etc.

Cambelt?

is it different from other Audi 4.2 V8s with cam chains?
The Allroad 4.2 and S4/RS4 V8's onward had the version of the engine with the cam chains and ancillaries at the back of the engine to make it shorter, and also to move it's c of g back.

The normal A6 V8's had cam belts at the front.

No different from any other car if it's not maintained correctly

Owned one myself, remapped and Circa 500bhp (4.2 V8)

Rapid car but very high maintenance.

Indeed. You'd think the remapped 335D owners would get the hint that no one likes them and sod off laugh

the funny thing is, no 335d says any such thing any more. it's just people on here who just keep on saying it, it's really annoying now and not funny.

I wish that were true.

If you have a spare hour (and an inane need) find the "VW goes Diesel" thread. The basic premise is it's full of people saying how wonderful a Diesel Turbo 3 lire is compared to a 1.4 petrol NA. And how it's ALL about the "MP to the Gees" not actual drving enjoyment.

The Marketting people at BMW, Audi, Merc Peugeot etc etc etc have a lot to answer for laugh
