good fast estate for around 2k
Discussion
after having lots of health problems and loosing my job as a result! once back to full health hopefully after xmas i am hoping to start my own business and need a large estate.
now i have about 2k in equity in the in my mazda6 mps so i ideally don't want anymore finance.
id love a nice spec estate with a bit of poke and comfort to if i could.
so far i have come up with;
2001- saab 95 hot aero estate either manual or auto.
1998- e36 328 se estate manual.
2001- e46 estate hopefully a 330 but tight on my budget.
e39 528 or maybe 530 estate.
Im worried about bmw auto boxes as my last e46 330 died at early milesand has worried me about them.
any other good choices?
i need about 30mpg+
loads of space
reliable
fun if possible but for once thats last on the list

had a zs 180 mk2 and with the inlet manifold issues and thermostats and all the other problems not sure om brave enough for another kv6 engined mg but i must admit there nice to drive and very good mpg as i got 36 mpg normally out the zs!
id love a t5 volvo but the other half point blank won't let me get a volvo!

For 2k I'd be looking at reliability and condition over your need for power- such as a 2.0 tdi passat. When im lugging kit around in mine im happy in the knowledge that's it's using little fuel and is very reliable-which is far more what these cars are about. Having said that I have heard that the MG estate does have a BMW engine? Also PPC rave about their alfa 156, although clearly found a good one.

They seem to be lacking in the "large estate" part of the requirements.http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3423580.htm

well so far then to consider are;
-mg ztt 190- quite new, looks really nice and always loved rovers but maybe kv6 issues.
-saab 95 hot aero, fast, good on fuel and loads of toys and nice seats but will it be reliable?
- vectra gsi- had a sri auto and hated the auto box and bad mpg but whats the gsi's like on fuel and reliablity?
