Of course it's possible. Cars don't automagically explode at 100,000 miles.

120,000 on my Yaris commute hack. Still going strong doesn't
miss a beat.

Quick search for petrol cars with over 100k miles returns 13,719 cars.

If the car has been well maintained then it will sail well past 100k.

If it has never seen a service then it might struggle.

My BMW has over 120k on the clock and is still going strong. I have heard of other petrol 3 series with over 300k on the clock.

Generally it's about maintenance. Look after the engine, and it should be fine.

Easy surely? I had a Punto 55 that got to 127,000 before it dropped a valve. I would suspect any petrol engine would get to the same...

If its been maintained and you continue to do so you should be alright, what kills cars is neglect and crashes, not driving them in line with manufacturers guidelines.

That said, Renaults can be a little tricky, especially gearboxes, can see how they get scrapped, say it needs tyres, brakes, MOT, service etc, can soon rack up a bill of a grand at garage prices, do it yourself, keep on top of things and a car never need be scrapped.

I took a mk1 clio from 20k to 100k, looked after it quite well though and it did give me a lot of headaches.

Personally if I had 3400 burning a hole in my pocket I wouldn't spend it on a clio... Corolla has to be a better bet.

My Clio 172 had about 125k on it when i got rid of it (to a PHer because the power steering pump ate itself) but was generally still fine

i had an Alfa 156 with about 115k on it and that was fine too

I've also been in cars with 50k on that have been a wreck, depends how they're looked after

This.

Go for something Jap! They really do seem to be just about the most reliable overall, don't mind being revved and putting up with enthusiastic driving (not out right thrashing though of course).

I used to work as a driver for a local Toyota garage and I came across many a car with big mileage that was still going strong. Some that had been well looked after felt like they only had 30,000 miles on when in fact they had 130,000!

My mate had a 51-plate Facelift, then his brother had it after, an 8v 1.2, no trouble, ran to maybe 120k (not sure) before his brother put it backwards through a wall. hehe

The engine ought to go way past that with maybe a few ancillary replacements. Suspension consumables like bushes and dampers like will be starting to wear out, though.

wifey has a 1.0L citroen Ax from new to 130k before we replaced it.

Plenty of Nissan 200sx's with 100k plus and running reliably with power upped from 200 - 290ish BHP.
I used to work with a guy who had one with 250k on the clock, and his previous one (popup headlight version) had 300K+ before trading it in against the above.

Mine has just under 100k and runs 290bhp and mainly track days.

My other car has 150k (tis a Lexus LS though)
