I actually just had trouble closing the door because of the wind.
Only time I have experienced something like that before was on the Rosyth to Zeebrugge ferry when heading out on deck.

Wow. Shame they can't make use of that extra thermal energy!

Livingston -> Dunfermline.

2.5 hours. 1300 -> 1530. Made it home just in time.

Livingston - Dechmont - Linlithgow - Airth - Fallin - Stirling - Causewayhead - Menstrie - Tillicoultry - Dollar - Saline - Blairhall - Culross - Home.

Ten years as a field service engineer has had its benefits!!

Power has been out for half the town here today (Fort William). Various roads intermittently shut from trees, floods and/or rockfalls. Bits of roof from the school next door are lying on the road outside. Not fun now, considering I'm not sure where I'll be sleeping tonight.

You should see the jams - all the Forth Bridge traffic is trying to get over at Kincardine!
I was in that; 3 hours it took to get from Rosyth to the Kincardine Bridge (12 miles) yikes - traffic was solid. Lucked out in the end though, took a shortcut through Torryburn (never driven in that area before) and when I came out on the main road (A985) the west-bound/bridge-bound side of the road was empty and the traffic was queuing in the other direction - there must have been a blow-over or something just passed the Caineyhill Roundabout.

ETA Still got most of my journey to go; Edinburgh to Manchester in the small hours (hopefully!)

That's where I live, you'll have driven past my front door. We often get a load of traffic through when the top road's blocked/closed.

There was a railing had been blown across the carriageway near where the bypass passes High Valleyfield.

Well 4 hours from Manchester city center to Motherwell (4.30-8.30)

Not the best drive, but by no means the worst conditions I've driven in. Worst was J15 - J12 on A74(M), the wind, the sleet and spray was pretty impenetrable at times.

The brake probably failed and then it started to spin like a top, getting hotter and hotter, until it catches fire.

Not sure how true, but heard that they were having trouble finding a lubricant that was friendly to their gearboxes.
