I like this SOTW.

Always respected the 205 GTI - never driven one, but everyone who has owned one always says good things about them.

Nice colour, would prefer the bigger wheels (not sure of the correct name of them).

They won't be this price for much longer!

If any car is going to do a 'Escort Mk1 / Mk2' on us again re. future silly prices - its got to be these right?

ETA: By which I mean - one everyone has one... then they get the boyracer treatment... then they disappear.... then BOOM!! You all want one again but can't touch one for silly money! (and everyone gets a bit misty eyed about the one they used to own)

It's big Gallic rival at the time was the Renault 5 Turbo - I drove one of those back in the day (I was a bit RS Ford obsessed...) but never tried a Pug.

The whole point of them being a bit tinny is that they are light!

This topic got me looking on ebay & Autotrader, i was surprised to see several around the £5-£6k mark. Then i found this, V6 conversion, needs some work. It maybe of interest to a ph'er that doesn't mind getting their hands dirty......

I had a 1.9 and I did. Well technically it was a field but rolled through the ditch on the way. Landed back on its wheels. Tadah! Great days....

Possible, along with Mk1 golf. The sale of this:

for anywhere near the asking would go a long way to persuading me.

Never forget the first time I saw one of these, Loire region in France early eighties- it looked like porn to a then 13 year old and still looks great now. Great SOTW.

You say that like it's a bad thing... you'd have fun getting there.
yes

my O/Hs first car was a 205GT (1.4 with twin webbers) ...that thing was bloody superb fun,
I also had a few friends that owned 205 GTI (1.6 and 1.9)...fantastic old cars.

the 205 GTI is probably the only French heap I'd buy tbh

They're fast disappearing now. Brilliant cars light and basic. They do go wrong but are fairly easy to fix. If this wasn;t at the wrong end of the country I'd be interested.

[sarcasm]You mean you'd rather have an M5 then a Pug 205? What's wrong with you?[/sarcasm]

I recently discovered that they did the E34 with the 4 litre V8 and manual 6 spd 'box. Very tempted.

Had one as company car for a couple of years or so in early 90's took it to 130,000 plus in that time, great car to drive nothing like it since, just a big go kart really, bit tinny as you say, but pretty reliable nonetheless.

Bargain. Someone snap it up before I get tempted. I've got a 1.9 in my garage which I've had for 15 years now. It's almost mint & I will never sell it. Feels dated now but so much fun. As quick as my 330ci sport but so much more involving to drive.
