My parents are selling their VI come spring time. It's the only Evo I've had the pleasure of driving. Completely standard when I drove it. Monstrous turbo boost and grips like nothing I've experienced.

Had a rather past passenger ride in a (bright yellow hehe) VIII FQ-330. I agree about it having more comfort and a bit more sophistication for the daily grind, but it still unleashes the beast inside if you want it to.

I think the Makkinen Special VI will be a future classic. Prices of these haven't dropped in a good while, so with no more Evos prices will only rise for the well kept ones.

Wasn't the X a bit watered down anyway? I've never owned one but get the impression that the IX was the last 'good one' and the VI seems even more revered than that.

I've owned an EVO and can honestly say it was the best car I've ever had. The MPG was a little harsh but it was great A to B and always left with a smile!

RIP

The exchange rate has really killed sales of the Evo X (and the Impreza). They were a bargain when you could get M3 level performance for half the price, now the top models are £50k+
£36k actually, the FQ400 was a limited run only. Strangely, I'm not bothered too much. I love the Evo X FQ330 SST I bought two months ago. It's a superb car, and a much, much better car than the STI 330S it replaced. In fact, I'm almost glad the Impreza lunched it's piston and led me to the Evo! But they are very different cars. The EVo is a technological tour de force. Always has been and is almost a junior GTR in that respect. So more technology doesn't bother me on it as long as it's quick and handles even better. I believe a lot of tech was held back on the Evo X because it wasn't quite ready so the next in line could well be a surprisingly better car with green credentials. I've nothing against electric motors either. The increased control the AYC could have over them, and the immediate response and torque they offer has the potential to be amazing. I think people are writing Mitusbishi off all too quickly. In the mean time, I'll have the X for another 3 years anyway so will have a grin to rival the Cheshire Cat for a while longer while the motoring world sorts itself out..

Oh, and as for losing the spoiler....GOOD! Never liked them and they're a delete option in the US. Should be here too.

You should be happy, you are obviously the target demographic for Mitsubishi's new "Greener" EVO

RIP Evo, all models were great to drive, not just the VI TME...

Being killed off by ridiculously high taxes imposed by money grabbing civil servants on the pretence that it's to save the environment, rising fuel prices because it costs more to gold plate your Veyron in Dubai these days, a weak pound because our government had to bail out the banks because all their Estonian school mates got greedy, and Euro regulations made by the same people who passed a law governing the shape of banana’s...it’s like a bad soap opera on acid

I hope the new breed of Euro rules compliant, electro/hybrid/vegetable oil powered cars will be as fun as the Evo and STI were, but I have my doubts frown

you're kidding me? is it a company car or personal? if person, then you're not buying a car as it costs you 1-2 tanks of fuel extra per year.

that's absurd!

almost half my wages goes to the tax man - including vat on stuff i buy. It's not the 'being green' junk i care about, just the fact that forking over 425 sheets for the pleasure of the occasional ruined alloy from potholes and roadworks that seem to improve nothing

I'd be amazed if they're not better, to be honest. The X is unfairly accused of being watered down but it really isn't, its just not built out of Airfix kits inside. I much prefer it to the VIII certainly. As for the STI, Subaru must have learned a harsh lesson by softening it up far too much this generation and, even though the Spec C based cars are better, mud sticks and it now has a poor reputation.

As for the EU, it's because of their eco-weany rubbish that I got an ex demo FQ330 for £12k less than list. I'm quite happy : )

when was the last time mitsubishi had a properly strong line up? I suppose the colt's ok, and the now-defunct evo obviously, but I'm struggling to think of the last time I noticed one of their cars. So I'm not sure I care what they think/do.
I'd say the Outlander making it into two French marks as the Pug 4007 and the Citroën C-Crosser, is a quite noticeable fact also...

"We must include new demand, especially for environmentally friendly aspects"

WHO demands this?!?!?! certainly nobody that's ever bought an Evo!

governments, maybe... via some ulterior motive, no doubt related to increased taxation of some sort... but not people who love their cars, not their driver's cars, that's for sure.

green eco-friendly trucks, busses, freight, school-run-mum vehicles, shopping- trolley hatchbacks, commuter cars... sure, great, but leave our drivers cars alone!!!

If there was a comment of the day, you'd win thumbup

I have no issue with eco cars, but being bullied into them is just annoying.

.....and when you try to get your hidden gem serviced you have the pleasure of the Mitsubishi dealer network (thunder plays in the background)!

The only dealer in my county, namely Fife Mitsubishi, refused to service my car, "because I didn't buy it there"........ tumbleweed

Go figure!

^^^This

Best car I have ever bought, VI GSR in Icelle blue. Cost me 10K four years ago and haven't regretted a second in it.

Shameless youtube plug for a club outing in it HERE. Yes I know I'll probably never sell it now, but it was VERY worth it.

Can't see the problem. I'm glad they made them but ultimately, they were created and developed for a specific purpose - to win rallies. Without a suitable competitive environment to motivate further development, they may as well kill it off. Subaru should have done the same with their equivalent too.

Love the Evo 6.

Never driven one, but a friend had a White Evo 6 a few years back.

Absolutely rapid machine, had brutish looks, sounded superb and handled amazingly. Active Yaw control.

Loved the big foglights and the white wheels (think it may have even been a Tommi Makinnen edition?).

He could drive that car in the wet the same way as he would in the dry!

Poor jap taxi cab interiors and fuel consumptin was very high. Thing is, it's not a car that was designed to go slow, and you can't help but give it beans everytime you drive it!

good point, but it's a shame we dont see 200+ bhp 4wd fiesta's or ds3's - on PH there is a market for it, but i read somewhere that the average mpg of new cars being sold is something like 52, so elsewhere there isnt a market for these cars
