Also surprised that the original article didn't mention that the AE86GT came with a LSD as standard!
Bit of info from the road test here

Plus, an old Fast Lane article

A tofu shop decal Sprinter would be in my lottery win garage. Complete with Formula Atlantic engine. I'm a geek.

They are silly money for what they are, but then so are rwd Escorts.

Well this does bring back some great memories, I have had 4 Ae86's,5 Ae82's and I used to be a regular at Billing Aquadrome for the Shows, even won the best Car on the TEC Club Stand one year although Brian's was better than mine, 2 mint red Ae86's what a sight anyway.. regretfully I sold my last one after owning her 9 years to an Irish Lad back in 2003, D55 RCA Red over Black with 60k on the clock, I often wonder what happened to it. If anyone knows, I would like to hear !!
Its good to see the enthusiasm for a brilliant little very under estimated Drivers Car still looking good

On my lottery list too, but I'd go for a supercharged one
LOL!
What's so funny? I supercharged mine, was great fun with an extra 50bhp, shame I didn't keep it long after doing that though.

Some great tricked up ones on Speedhunters. Great cars. Proper RWD fun.

Funny because Lauren is about to fit a Supercharged 4A-GZE to her Trueno

I could put up the reg plate on an Irish AE86 owners forum. More than likely find out something about it!

My cars cost is the result of the bits fitted to it rather than the fact it's a Corolla (the engine would cost £15K alone, let alone the sequential gearbox, ali axle, Cosworth dash/data logging, FEA designed roll cage, Koni d/a dampers, split rims, AP brakes, carbon/kevlar body panels etc etc etc).

Great pics! smile

Yes, the car is due a 4AGZE transplant. A result of compression testing revealed a suspected problem in the 50 psi region. That was on No.4, the other's did around 210psi.

Mark (Fiancee) has a lovingly rebuilt 4AGZE which is sitting in our shed. It's basically a 'Blue-printed' 4AGZE running a Blitz (180mm IIRC) over-size crank pulley. The engine also has the later supercharger with the smaller pulley. Should be good for an easy 170bhp. There are a few issues to sort out and we ware currently working out where and how to mount the alternator. We have some ideas.

My other half is just waiting to move into new premises, so once that is sorted we can start work on the car. Am interested to strip the NA to see what's in it.
